It's back!!!I thought I'd never have these ribs again. Now doing takeout hot off the grill, reheat, and pretend you made it yourself raw prepared food. So. Excited. View all feedback.
What Karli Schmidt doesn't like about Big Crow:
Wow, what a great eatery this could be with there great atmosphere and outside design. But $39.00 for a 12" slab of Ribs that was overcooked and had very little meat on the bones. The sauce was awesome but they really missed the mark on quantity and pricing. Next the steak, $27.00 for a small piece of grisly chewy steak. Again flavors were awesome, but again a miss on quantity and price. The brisket nachos were awesom... View all feedback.
Well this Big Crow, is a vegan so I was a little worried about what I would eat here but have no fear Vegans! They took care of me like I was the Big Bird, and I had plenty to eat! Our waiter here was absolutely fabulous! He explained all the food so well, made sure everyone was enjoying themselves with drinks, and or food, and was just a fantastic host! He had long blonde hair and looked like a rocker.. aka I kinda wanted to be in a band with him when I saw him singing songs a crossed the restaurant when our party was the only ones left in the out door seating area.. Ps the outdoor seating area was not really outdoors... it felt more like a badass cabin or garage that was very well heated and snuggly warm even in the depths of a Toronto winter! All the food I ate was fantastic and the drinks were a plenty. We sat next to the open kitchen and the smells were delicious even for this vegan! I was very grateful to be here with my co workers so I even went around the horn and told them how special I thought each of them were and I kept getting interrupted by another course of food coming to the table! Let's just say, I don't think anyone left hungry or sad.. And that is just another reason to be grateful!
Big Crow is located behind Rose and Sons restaurant, marked by a large sign that says FOOD. Follow the delicious scent of smokey meat to find it. Although the prices are a bit high, the portions are generous. A full rack of ribs with one side was enough for two people, but if you're really hungry or feeling extravagant, feel free to order more. Our bill came out to $75 before drinks, including tax and tip - definitely not cheap! The ribs were tasty, but in our opinion, Barque is better. The Caesar salad was decent, but nothing extraordinary. We noticed that the pitcher of sangria served at another table was quite small, suitable for only two people. The atmosphere at Big Crow is rustic and summery, earning it 4 stars. The food is good, but not mind-blowing. It's on the pricey side, making it more of a splurge for a one-time BBQ experience rather than a regular go-to spot. It's worth a try, though.
I had a fantastic 5-star dining experience at Big Crow for so many reasons. Firstly, our server was amazing and funny, making us feel welcomed and taken care of throughout the night. It was like catching up with an old friend. The ambiance was cozy and reminiscent of a modern cottage in the woods, with wooden interiors and fireplaces. The food and drinks were top-notch, with a variety of local beers, wines, and cocktails. We enjoyed a delicious kale caesar salad, mac and cheese, and shrimp nachos. The 80's/90's diva mix tape playing in the background added to the fun atmosphere. Overall, I loved every aspect of my time at Big Crow, and I am grateful for the wonderful experience.
Hot Damn! When it took our group a second to find the entrance through what looked like a sketchy alley, I knew we were in for a treat. Big Crow delivers and it 's worth every penny. You 're warmed by the oven, blankets, furs, your own company and the charming and a bit over the top service. I mean, we were even proposed to. It was great. The food was delicious. Ribs, chicken, nachos... it just kept coming and our crew ate it up. We drank a lot too. Offerings of white and red wines, rosé, and local beers. A rootbeer cocktail was the prize for me, as it reminded me of my grandpop and his classic boot in the rear since this drink will knock you back a bit. I loved everything about Big Crow and hope to experience it in a different way by coming back to visit in warmer months. In the meantime, I 'll hold onto those blanket wrapped memories and be continuously grateful for the amazing experience.
The restaurant has a great atmosphere with a camp theme and plenty of shade to protect from a rainstorm. The cornbread is delicious and impressive, like bread on another level. The wings were excellent, even though they were not the main focus for us. The JW bird is a generous portion with tender meat. The Miami ribs are shareable among four adults, with the meat easily falling off the bones. Our server Tyler was energetic and friendly without being annoying.
