If you like Turkish cuisine, and cannot fly to Istanbul this is a place for you. We had an early dinner (late lunch) with my Turkish friend, service is excellent, the food was 8 out of 10 View all feedback.
What Orrin Moen doesn't like about Best Istanbul Kebab Doner Pide:
I was unable to use the restroom at this restaurant due to poor hygiene. This made my dining experience unpleasant as I had to search for an alternate restroom. I do not recommend this place if cleanliness is important to you. View all feedback.
Based on the reviews, we decided to give this restaurant a try. The server helped point out the popular dishes. Other diners had various dishes that were served with very generous portions. We started with Turkish tea followed by Adana Kebab and a Beef Doner Wrap. Service was attentive and the cleanliness was a pleasant surprise. The only drawback was the parking in front. Very narrow and difficult to maneuver with the traffic on Keele.
My husband and I had dinner at the restaurant tonight. It is indeed clean and the service friendly. When we ordered our meals my husband had a soft drink and I asked for a glass of water. Our meals and my husbands soft drink arrived but not my water. When I asked for a glass of water, the server brought a bottle of nestle water to the table. When I told him that I didn't want a bottle, but a glass of water He told me that they only serve bottled water because they don't trust the tap water, or could it be that they wanted to make the 2000% mark up on water. It was weird and I told him to take the bottled water back for lots of reasons including the fact that I was paying $14 for a shawarma plate and a glass of tap water wasn't too much to ask for and restaurants in Toronto are legally required to provide water and not just bottled water they charge for. Needless to say we didn't make a fuss but we won't be back. Other little things like some customers were offered mint tea and others weren't and some of my chicken was under cooked. There are too many other terrific Middle Eastern Restaurants in Toronto to bother with this one again.
We went as a group on Christmas Eve and ordered the platter for 6. The meat offered included beef doner, chicken kebabs and beef kebabs. It was served with rice and grilled vegetables such as jalapeño peppers and a very tasty salad. The meat was nicely seasoned and sumptuous. They had run out of chicken doner but made up for it with extra kebabs. We had some baklava for dessert as well, pricey but good! The owners who we spoke with are from Istanbul so the food is very authentic and we reminisced about our trip there many years ago.
I been there for the first time , fell in love , the place is very clean, people very friendly and the food very authentic. Tried the lamb chop, felt like I'm in Istanbul
