I recently visited this restaurant with a friend and it was absolutely amazing! The staff were friendly and welcoming from the moment we walked in. The food was delicious and our server was just lovely. I will definitely return and I highly recommend this restaurant to others. It’s also reasonably priced and the portions are generous as well. Five stars all around !!!!. View all feedback.
What Alejandra Carter doesn't like about Astoria:
We ordered chicken souvlaki dinners. it took 45 minutes to get served. one server only for indoors. The chicken was as dry as paper and tasteless. The so-called Greek potatoes , were tasteless blobs floating in some indescribable oragey sauce, no lemon, not roasted. The salad was...limp. We couldn 't finish the meal it was so awful. no tip given, they didn 't deserve it. Such a disappointment. We have never had a bad... View all feedback.
We have been here many times in past and enjoyed our experiences. Took out-of-province friends to what we thought was a reliable classic. Lovely night on the patio...good setting. However, we were extremely disappointed. Service was slow and inattentive. Food: lamb kebabs were chewy; pork was fatty and overcooked; potatoes and rice and veggies were tepid temperature; veggies for which one pays an extra charge were terrible...overcooked packaged mini carrots and cold broccoli. We were not only disappointed, but very embarrassed .as we had raved about the character of "The Danforth" and the "great food" that we thought we would experience here. There are too many other choices in Greektown to return to this restaurant!
My girlfriend and I shared the Astoria’s Mix Grill with a greek salad for each of us. The salads were very good but probably could've included a few more olives to spice it up. The mix grill was a pretty good assortment of food but the pork souvlaki and lamb chops were very fatty and the quail had very little meat on it to be worth it. Overall it was a good portion for the two of us. The service was fine but waitress could've been more cheery.
We visited as a family of four and delighted in the dips and main entrées: moussaka, salads with chicken, beef souvlaki dinner. Plentiful portions, very good good you'll come to find at Astoria restaurants. We sat outside at the patio - the large planters, décor, shade awnings - did not go unnoticed in creating a comfortable and pleasant experience. Service was attentive and friendly. Will be back.
Best Greek salad around, portions are huge and the flaming cheese was a family hit! Our waiter was excellent and restaurant had a great vibe. Excellent wine selection too. Have been back several times since our first visit for take out also.
My husband and I decided to eat here before a concert and arrived around 5:45 on a Saturday night. Families and couples were already there, and arriving all the time. It was lovely out on the patio with beautiful hanging flower baskets everywhere and a delicious aroma coming from the kitchen.Of course, we ordered the signature flaming saganaki which was perfection - with a little hint of fresh lemon right before serving. Both of us ordered the souvlakis on a pita which included fries and/or substitution of a salad for an extra $2.50 I preferred the chicken souvlaki and glad I ordered it since my husband had the pork souvlaki and had a several fatty pieces ( I'm sure that's not common but this time it was.) We were well taken care of by our server Nishka, and enjoyed our meal. We'd definitely recommend it!
