Our great friends run this excellent restraunt. It is firmly rooted in the past, it still has friendly and attentive service without being pushy and the food is old style, tasty and plentiful. We have used this restaurant from the week it opened to this day and have NEVER had any complaint. I hope you will find the same if you dine here. View all feedback.
What garybons dislikes about Raj Tandoori:
A group of five or six of us eat at the Raj every two or three months or so. The food is generally ok but varies according, I guess, to who’s doing the cooking and although I’ve tried several dishes none of them have really stood out. Service is also generally ok but there is one particular waiter who can be quite rude. However, the other staff are friendly enough and we have no problem continuing to have our get-tog... We love the Raj and enjoy eating there whenever we visit our friends in Sevenoaks. The food and service are outstanding.
Food went straight in the bin when we got home, waste of money. You can see how bad it looks, the curry is as good as a cold cup of sick and Onion Bhaji looks like and flatten piece of charcoal.
I've been coming yo this restaurant since it first opened in the early 80's my parents where in fact there very first customers, I've had meny meals here both eat in and take away never had any bad food obviously some are better than others but the food has always been very good staff are friendly and place is spotless I've never had to complain in over 40 years .
Lovely indian restaurant. we have struggled to find an indian like this for a long time, but this is definitely the best in the area. jalfrezzi was like you find in karachi, and butter chicken (although colour was scary! was a prime example of what butter chicken should be. i definitely recommend this and can confidently say we will be coming back.
Fantastic little place. Great food great service at a reasonable price. Friendly staff.
Established regulars of The Raj were disappointed to find that their take-out experience had declined in quality. Some found the food to be awful, indicating potential microwaving and subpar ingredients. However, there were those who still praised the restaurant for its traditional flavors and friendly service. Noise levels were a concern for some diners, while others enjoyed the ambience and great value. Overall, opinions were mixed, with loyal patrons standing by the establishment's long-standing reputation.

I thought I would try this place as it is a short walk from where I usually stay in Sevenoaks, and I fancied a change from the pub. Best I can say is that it is 'OK '. Service was polite, but slow (I contemplated just walking as I was giving up the will to wait for the bill to finally arrive). The food was OK, very generic Indian, nothing memorable about it. I LOVE Indian food, but will probably just go to the pub next time.
We were take away regulars at this High Street restaurant but during the pandemic we reduced our eating out activities. It was always reliable for a reasonably priced and quality curry so it was with some expectation that I returned for another take away last evening. Service, as usual, was polite and efficient but the food quality was just awful. Have they changed owner or chef or both? The Lamb Jalfrezi had lumps of tasteless, tough meat that could have been several days old. The Tarka Dhal resembled a thin yellow soup and also lacked flavour, The Brinjal Bhaji was acceptable with succulent pieces of tender aubergine but even the Special Fried Rice tasted stale. These 4 dishes cost £22.10 and as I had to throw away most of the contents, it was very poor value.
The only time I go anywhere else for my Indian food is when I’m not in kent... the raj has been a family favourite since I was a child and before, (I’m 33 now) great food, served by good people
Good, friendly service, excellent food and nice atmosphere. Good selection of favourites on the menu. Can get busy so best to book.
Firstly upon arrival myself and my girlfriend were greeted by a rude and arrogant waiter who definitely didn’t want to be there, service was okay and food came out fast but then you start to eat and realise how bad the food is , the chicken was hard rubbery and couldn’t cut with a knife , Bobayaloo was terrible and popadoms just tasted of cooking oil This is all tell tail signs of microwave cooking , just pure lazy ness No wonder the restaurant was dead only 3 others Bad food bad service I give this one a 3/10 Will never return good luck to them and there fake chicken and oily poppadoms

I had dinner at this restaurant and I would rate the food, service, and atmosphere all a perfect 5 out of 5.
The service at this restaurant was excellent, with attentive and friendly staff who made sure we had everything we needed throughout our meal. The atmosphere was also enjoyable, with a cozy and welcoming vibe that made for a pleasant dining experience. Overall, a great place to enjoy a delicious meal with top-notch service.
The food at this restaurant is fantastic and the staff is friendly. I just wish there were more vegetarian options available. The service, dining experience, and atmosphere all receive top marks. Perfect for a dinner outing, with prices ranging from £20-30 per person.
Great traditional curry house. Been using them for years and not top notch curry but very good nonetheless. Think of the curry houses that you visit that you know roughly what it will taste like and you can never go wrong. Big shout out to Abdul who is always a great host and Sam the owner. Keep up the great consistent work. Service: Take out Meal type: Dinner
Excellent food and service the best Indian food I have ever had!
