My family and I hiked to Malga Crel on the first day of our vacation in San Martino, as we decided it was a good walk to begin with. Since it's easy, not too much of an elevation change, along a rangers' road, it can fill up easily with families, so it might be better to reserve a table for lunch. We got here too early to eat (lunch starts at 12), so we had drinks and a cake (excellent apple strudel); it then started raining, so we decided to stay at our table, chat and play until lunchtime; we're glad we did, as we enjoyed very good homemade food: polenta with grilled tosela (a local cheese), tagliatelle al capriolo, cervo alla griglia (according to my husband, one of the best venison dish he ever had), accompanied by a glass of good, dry red wine and beer. Prices are very good for a mountain hut (some of them are more expensive and in some case for lower quality). We had our dog with us and he laid down under the table the whole time.
