By the side of the intermarche, good place for a quick and cheap meal. Bar too.
This was a very cosy, comfortable restaurant. The food quality was excellent and the portions huge! The owner was very nice, friendly and happy to laugh and joke he was descret enough to disappear while we were eating but seemed to reappear just when you needed him. The food cooked was locally sourced and very fresh! Now a days when talking of carbon footprints they talk of air miles food travels. This place could be measured in foot miles! A word of caution, if you are asked if you have had enough or if you want more and say yes, expect another large portion! Separate from the restaurant area is a bar with a pool table and TV. This cannot be seen or heard in the pleasantly decorated restaurant. Although not a big fan of football himself the owners regulars and locals are so the bar area Is decorated with football scarves from all over Portugal and more than a few international ones! I had such a good night and great meal I shall be adding to his collection by sending him another!
Stopped for coffee and wine in the afternoon. Good local cafe. In the evening returned for dinner. Had house streak. Good value and nice meal of excellent proportion. Recommended.
Stop 81 is a traditional Portuguese local restaurant. Antonio's friendly welcome is legendary, he will look after you very well. Menu is in Portuguese and English and offers a good range of fish and meat dishes using freshly prepared produce at very good prices. The huge steaks are of excellent quality and highly recommended, (not easy to get a good steak in Portugal). We live around the corner and use it frequently. But perhaps the best guide is our guests reaction. We run a Bed Breakfast and host guests from all over the world, many visit Stop 81 on our recommendation as it's just a 4 minute walk. Without exception, they return with glowing reports of how much they enjoyed the food and the whole experience. (Our vegetarian guests really enjoy the migas and caldo verde) We are very lucky to have such a good restaurant so close! Try it, you will not be disappointed.
We were sent here by a nearby B&B. It's a very local place run by Antonio and his wife. The menu is based on what they have fresh at the moment. The night we were there we had a delicious dinner of grouper that we shared accompanied by greens with some sort of corn flour a bit like farofa in Brasil, white means and wine. We started out with an excellent vegetable soup. This is a cash only establishment.
