Moana Nui - Thuir

Considering this was rated the No 1 restaurant on Tripadvisor in Thuir it was very underwhelming. The service and the people were lovely. The set menu was €29 which we thought was expensive for what we got. And we were offered an aperitif that turned out to be €8 on top of this. It was a nice experience and something different but going on the food and the flavours don’t think this is the best restaurant in Thuir. We were the only people in there no locals for lunchtime.

What a pity. The idea of a resteraunt offering a changing menu of dishes from around the world is a brilliant one. Alas the execution didn't quite meet my expectations. The service full explaination of the dishes was excellent clear, polite helpful. The starters of Greek Salad Mexican empanadas (with superb, spicy salsa) were very good, the main dishes less so, I'm afraid. The Seafood stir fry was OK, the squid being rather too chewy the stir fry sauce a little sweet for my taste. The bocadillo was a bit undercooked (which the chef later apologised for, bless him) However, as there were no Veggie options on the menu, they were more than happy to create a veg stir fry. The house red wine (from Rivesaltes) was really good. Maybe we picked a low day ?

Interesting food inspired by different countries. When we went there were two choices of each course. Possibly more now it has moved to the centre of Thuir. Run by a lovely husband and wife team. He cooks she serves. Check the menu out and give it a try.

Belle découverte (par hasard) de ce restaurant tahitien. 2 restaurants Tahitien à Thuir alors que dans une grosse ville, aucun. C'était donc l'occasion de découvrir cette cuisine. Ce fut une belle surprise avec des saveurs que l'on ne connaisait pas avec ma femme. On y reviendra avec un grand plaisir. Je conseille car c'est un vrai restaurant.

Une véritable explosion de saveurs vous attend dans cette petite rue de Thuir. Exotisme assuré ! Une formule vous permet de goûter 3 entrées, un plat, un dessert. Avec poisson à la tahitienne, sashimi, thon sésame/miel, samoussa, accras. Le thon (snacké mangue curry coco est exquis. Et le dessert génoise coco/passion est incroyablement parfumé et délicat. Les patrons, de grands voyageurs, sont aux petits soins. Une adresse à ne surtout pas manquer!
