Was Edgardo Jaskolski at Freds a mag?
Fred's is in the middle of nowhere and was recommended by friends. We have been there twice now and had great steaks, pizza and sandwiches both times. Owner is super friendly and we love the quirky old west atmosphere! You can wonder around and look at the animals too, longhorn steer, horses, etc. There is a really neat stagecoach in the bar that Fred built himself. Steaks are grilled in the middle of the restaurant... View all feedback.
What Edgardo Jaskolski dislikes about Freds:
My snowbird friends learned of this place and brought me out for pizza and a bucket of beers. This place is divey, kitschy and full of history as it's been around since the mid seventies. Seems to have had a rodeo past and there's stage coaches, covered wagons and a grill right in the center of the room that serves as the chuckwagon I guess. The pizza was thin crust and ok, the beers were cold, the service was slow b... View all feedback.
I revisited Fred after a gap of 3 years or more with friends seeking a new dining experience and good food. One of my friends ordered a steak which was overcooked, while my husband ordered the house specialty, pork steak, which was also overdone and difficult to chew. Both dishes were sent back and we had to wait a considerable amount of time for them to be recooked. Despite there being no other customers at the time, we received service from three different staff members. We concluded that while it was an adventurous experience, it was not worth a second visit.
I love Fred's. It's a great place to eat after a long day of work or activities. There's no pretentiousness here - we are treated like regular folks. If you're looking for a fancy restaurant, stick to the city. Out here in the desert, everyone works hard. And on busy nights, it's important to tip your waiter well for their hard work. The food is delicious and well-prepared.
This restaurant is quite unique as it allows guests to stroll around the square and observe various attractions such as longhorn cattle, horses, and antique vehicles. It is enjoyable to take photos in front of colorful totem poles and wooden statues. The bar and grill have a western film set vibe and the overall ranch-style atmosphere adds to the charm. Their shrimp baskets are a must-try, especially with the delicious shrimp sauce. They even have a dance floor and occasionally host live local bands on Saturday nights. My friends and I always have a great time here and there is something for everyone in the family. I highly recommend giving this place a visit - you won't regret it!
Sat with friends, but it's nothing special. Avoid the ride as if they can go, it is better to take a short desert hike elsewhere. we did it because the group wanted. steaks are nothing special. very simple. friendly service.

Steaks are grilled in the middle of the restaurant over a open wood fire and we love the flavor and they were done to perfection! Will definitely be going back.
