Silks at Crown Melbourne - Thornlie

Silks is a restaurant I've dined at many times over the years. This most recent time was a banquet meal with a group. As much as I've loved dining here in the past, In this instance I found the banquet style dinner to be a bit ponderous. None of the dishes really stood out The wine list seems to be a little narrower these days as well, not offering much breadth of selection compared to most of the other iconic Chinese establishments around the country. Comparatively, I have to admit I'm more at home at the still high end, but newer, hipper venues these days, Mr Wong's comes to mind in Sydney. If you want an ultra fine dining scenario with plenty of ambiance this is your place in Melbourne no doubt still.

We did the weekday lunch special. The food was exceptional, from lobster dumplings, to the seafood noodles.The staff were very attentive and the food was of a very very high standard.The special had 3 rounds of dumplings and a main and a glass of wine per personWe could hardly finish, it is alot of very high quality food.Will be back

We were invited by our Australian business partners to dine here. Chinese food... but as a Chinese, I would appreciate real Chinese food which I unfortunately found something lacking here. On top of that, it is pricey. Come here for the ambience, not the meal, though I appreciate the thoughtfulness of my hosts.

Fantastic singapore chillie (snow) crab and dinner menu. Loved the service and food. The pork belly was soft and juicy and the prawns were totally awsome. Fantastic evening.

Staff were very friendly and attentive. We had Santa come and join us for a lovely chat which was a great suprise. The food was exquisite. The atmosphere and dècor was classy and elegant. We were seated next to the window overlooking the yarra river and the stunning melbourne skyline. This restaurant is a must if you visit crown casino.
