I ordered the Szechuan Chicken and was super impressed. Veggies were fresh and perfectly crisp, the sauce was awsome and I did ask for spicy but man was it SPICY. Especially for smaller town Prairie, restaurant chinese food. I was so impressed I went the next day, and thought I would be more economical and took the special. It was much more like small town chinese food. Sort of bland, generic, and too sweet and stick... View all feedback.
What Miller Jacobson doesn't like about Golden Star Chinese Food:
Only people with no experience with Chinese cuisine would find it adequate. None of the flavors I would expect are there and neither are the ingredients. It's like someone was learning to cook Chinese and used whatever they found in the fridge and used only soy sauce for flavor. The only thing I can say is you will certainly get your vegetables. The noodles were the closest thing to real Chinese cuisine. View all feedback.
Not the most welcoming entrance. A side door with no signs. Only sign is under the Hotel name on the front of the building. About 8 tables in a diner type atmosphere. Bright but functional. No frills seating. Our Food was fresh and served piping hot in 10 minutes both times we visited. The owner's, Linda and Don are excellent hosts and gave me a good recommendation on my second visit. Good food. Reasonable prices. Two things difficult to find in The Pas. Cantonese Style Chinese Food with fresh ingredients. Tasty. If you like spicy ask for more as dishes are not seasoned very much.
Golden Star is a quaint little place right downtown. They have a nice variety of Asian specialties and a decent buffet for Friday Supper. One of the best dishes is the lemon chicken you won’t be disappointed. The next time you pass through town and you are in the mood for Asian stop in at the Golden Star
For a good meal in The Pas you can't beat their fast and friendly service! Try the hot plate or the wonton soup, excellent!
It is a great place for an oriental dinner and service is fast and quality is good, I will return to this place again
