First visit. Nice reboot of the old Vicar's Vice location. Welcoming staff and layout. Good variety of meats as meals, sandwiches or platters. The brisket was our table's favourite. Was a late lunch for us so a few of the other meats were a little dry but that's to be expected. Bold flavour from both smoking and seasonings were delicious. We'll definitely be back! What User doesn't like about Hogtown Smoke:
I really wanted to love this place, but there were some issues I couldn't overlook. The brisket was very dry, almost like beef jerky. I mentioned this to the waitress who said they would notify the kitchen, but I never received any explanation, discount, or otherwise. It's also very expensive. Luckily there was a nice assortment of house made BBQ sauces of varying spice levels that was delicious and I could drench ev... View all feedback.
My mom, sister and I, with my newborn, Went there for Mother?s Day lunch at 1pm. I was a little concerned as the parking lot was empty and restaurant as well, however I was told it usually gets busy for dinner. The food was delicious! We ordered one of their shareable platters $46), my mom doesn?t eat pork so they replaced sausage and pork ribs with chicken wings and beef brisket; in addition to the half chicken. I got to try out several of their home made hot sauces whichwere fresh and excellent! We ordered a beef rib one huge heavy bone only which comes at a minimum of 21oz at $2.50 per ounce, very very pricy with not much meat! But it was so good none the less. The sides were good but small portions. The server was really nice she spent a lot of time with us. To top off our experience, a really unexpected pleasant surprise happened, one of the male customers paid for our meal which was $120. We are so grateful for such a gesture, itreally was a breath of fresh air to know there are still nice people in this world!
Lunch was very disappointing, had high hope. Ordered the brisket, $21, I asked if it came with sides they said Cole slaw ... I order Mac cheese to be safe ???? So, I couldn 't care about the side , I ordered Brisket wooo!! Ya, the few strips of meat that came on the plate was cold. Not left under a heat lamp and no longer warm, out of the fridge nuked for maybe 10 seconds, and would have cooled my room temp water ???? Mac cheese Just wait to you get home. Hopingthey were training someone in the back, still no excuse for that. $70+ tab with a cpl pops and a poutine. 2 stars, bbq sauce was tasty.
We visited for the first time and were impressed by the transformation of the former Vicar's Vice location. The staff was friendly and the layout was inviting. They offer a nice selection of meats, available as meals, sandwiches, or platters. Our favorite was the brisket. Since we arrived for a late lunch, some of the other meats were a bit dry, but that’s to be expected at that time. The bold flavors from the smoking and seasonings were absolutely delicious. We'll definitely return!
We ordered takeout around 6:15 PM on Saturday night. Unfortunately, both the beef brisket sandwich and the Hogatha sandwich were cold to the touch, not even at room temperature. I had to microwave them just to enjoy my meal. The beef brisket sandwich lacked sauce, and while the meat was acceptable, I expected more for a $20 sandwich—especially since it was served cold on an equally cold bun with little flavor. I would like to give them another chance, but it's tough to justify this experience. The onion rings were hot but excessively salty, which may be their typical preparation. I'm not expecting perfection, but a warm meal is essential when paying for food. On a positive note, the cold jalapeño macaroni salad was quite tasty.
I truly wanted to enjoy this restaurant, but there were a few problems I just couldn't ignore. The brisket turned out to be quite dry, reminiscent of beef jerky. I brought this to the attention of the waitress, who assured me she would inform the kitchen, but I never received any follow-up or compensation. Additionally, the prices are quite high. On a positive note, there was a great selection of house-made BBQ sauces with different spice levels that were delicious and I was able to slather on everything. However, given that my meal cost $50, I think I'll be trying another place next time.
