great food, server was friendly & attentive. 4th time since the new owners took over, this is our go to restaurant in Thornbury, can't wait for patio season. They have a wood fired outdoor pizza oven, lovely waterfront restaurant, great prices, menu to appeal to everyone. View all feedback.
What Kolmar Svafars doesn't like about Maiolo's Restaurant & Lounge:
stopped for lunch, based on the location. Server was very nice and the french onion soup was very hot and good. However, the montreal smoked meat sandwich was cold, almost as if it had been sitting for a while, and the fish was overcooked and bland. The french fries were overcooked to the point that a lot of them couldn't be eaten. They weren't busy but there just didn't seem to be much care put into the food. View all feedback.
Totally disorganized ridiculous service. Just order beer and pizza and enjoy the waterfront. Round tables put side to side for table for 8! Doesn't work. Waited forever, mediocre food. Too bad because it could be a great spot if they got it together.
Patio :8.5Food : 6Service: 3Don't think the view is worth another visit. We had an antipasto dish, Cesar salad, bruschetta and some drinks. Drink menu was very limited. Antipasto dish was all out of cans/jars. Bruschetta was good. Nice patio for drinks and some sun. Servers were scarce.
This restaurant is located in a beautiful small harbor overlooking an attractive marina on Georgian Bay (Lake Huron) Ontario Canada. I live nearby and would probably visit again if the experience had been better. It is in a four seasons vacation/retirement community with a large choice of very good restaurants. Upon arrival no one greeted us,so we found our way out to the patio which overlooks the water. Our young and very poorly trained waitress gave us menus and stood over us while we made our choices. She had no knowledge of the wines other than to say that the house wine was "not bad". When the meals arrived she knocked over my glass of water so that it splled on my meal and on my lap... no apologie.. no attempt to take the dish back to the kitchen until asked . The meal was poor and was obviously cooked from frozen. We felt rushed throughout the whole meal, the waitress returning often to ask if we were finished yet so that she cold clear the plates. The bill was brought to us without being requested and she stood over us and watched as we used the credit card terminal. All in all it was one of the worst restaurant experiences that my wife and I have ever had.
Seriously we had the worst time here!! Passing by we smelt some great food so thought we would look at the menu everything looked awesome so we decided to stay. First the waitress was EXTREMELY rude when my cousin took longer than 3 seconds ordering a drink she took off and said " ill have to come back i have 6 other people waiting " there was only ONE table in there with us. Finally we get our drinks and order and we wait... and wait ... and wait then it was getting dark so we moved inside from the patio. It wasn't until two hours later we received our food after EVERY other table got theirs and we were the second table to arrive. Two out of 4 dishes were okay! Steak was good actually the entire steak dinner was great . Seafood was good. My pizza was TERRIBLE!!! Also the ravioli was not fit to eat. After trying to laugh this terrible experience off and pay and get out of here because were coming up on the third hour we go to pay and their debit machine wont work. After another 20 minutes we get offered a ride from a kitchen employee to go to the bank. Finally we pay our bills and leave with two traumatized girlfriends who thought they were going to get kidnapped and four hungry bellies.
Always feel bad when we were one of only a few tables at Maiolo's but that was in the winter when folks didn't seem to know it was there. But now with the better weather, people are coming to the harbour and seeing the restaurant and the great patio; there are more and more people eating here. Food is excellent and the service is very personal and attentive. They even made my son spaghetti and meatballs when it wasn't on the menu. Thai mussels were very good. Unfortunately they were out of pizza dough....because pizza is a house specialty and the best in town. Prices are more than reasonable.
