Great selection of icecream and all sorts of candies. Service is excellent and friendly. Be prepared for a bit of a wait on very hot days but the wait is worth it .

CHILL Soda Shop reminded me very much of “Udder Guy’s Ice Cream” in Cowichan Bay – and that’s a good thing. Like Udder Guy’s, CHILL Soda Shop is a small establishment specializing in ice cream, candy and, as the name suggests, sodas of various types and flavours. For most, the draw seems to be the ice cream.When I stopped by, it was late in the day but still pretty busy. After looking through the impressive selection of ice cream flavours, I settled on the “moose tracks” (2 scoops.) Now, be warned – the scoops here are pretty massive, which is something I learned after placing my order! But be that as it may, the ice cream was excellent and I finished it all. You get high quality ice cream here (Island Farms brand) – not that cheap stuff that kind of turns to foam when you try to eat it. I suspect this place gets very busy during the summer!CHILL Soda Shop, while small and kind of quirky, has a bit of something for everyone. For the youngsters and those young at heart, they offer an extensive candy, soda and ice cream selection – perfect to beat that summer heat! Heck, if I’m feeling adventurous next time, maybe I’ll try “The Heffer” – 5 scoops of ice cream, sprinkles, crushed waffle cone and gummy worms. We enjoy going to chill soda shop, they have best ice cream in town, must try during summer. i think they are open only during summer time.

If you can't find an ice cream flavour here that makes you happy, I suspect nothing will. Aside from multiple common and not-so-common flavours, there's a pretty extensive candy selection for kids young and old. The last time I went in, there was a line up literally out the door (and no sign of that letting up thanks to beautiful weather) with one single soul working behind the counter. Although she looked younger, I didn't at all get the vibe that she was stressed out and she wasn't at all rushing people to make decisions about what to order - she was completely calm and focused on who was right in front of her, which was quite an achievement!Although I'm new to town and not completely familiar with their menu, it sounds like they switch it up a bit in the fall, so I'm looking forward to checking that out.
