After a lengthy wait, my waitress finally returned and asked if we needed anything else or if we wanted the check. I mentioned that I was still waiting for my full-sized piece of fish. She looked confused, so I explained the situation to her, and she went to get the manager. I had to repeat my story to him, and then they needed to track down the girl who had given me the fish to verify what I had said. By then, my wife had finished her meal and was ready to leave. The manager asked if I still wanted the fish, and unsurprisingly, I declined. As compensation, they covered my meal. In the end, our bill for two beers, a burger, and half a dozen oysters came to nearly $50!

So, I ended up eating my two bites of fish, finished the macaroni and cheese, and shared some of my wife’s burger.
