I had my sons rehearsal dinner there, June 23 2023. What a great job that your servers did what professionals, including the chef are.The food was fantastic. They told me that the chef had some new items that he was just starting to. try out, the pesto/macaroni , calamari, mixed vegetables, all wonderful, and the chicken breasts were also terrific. What Mike Khum doesn't like about Meritage At Callaway:
This restaurant used to be decent a few years ago. However the last few times I've been here, the food has not been good, service slow, menu uninspired/limited, and prices high for the lack of quality. They will rarely seat you without a reservation, even if they are not busy. Hardly fine dining. Just over priced because of the winery. Food was bland, service was subpar. Scenery was nice, but much better choices around Temecula than this place. Save your money!
Pleasantly surprised! Made reservations around sunset and it was worth it!! Food was cooked well and presentation was on point. Money worth spent and wasn't too crazy expensive. Service was excellent and attentive in the right way. It wasn't crowded so probably why it everything was on point. The Lamb Shank was buttery and fall-off-the-bone good. Duck was well-cooked and not over done. Dessert was a great way to end too. Not overly sweet and good composition. Hope it's like this the next time we visit!
Found this place by accident when we were hungry. During busy time the wait can be 45minutes, but it is worth the wait. The oxtail absolutely wonderful.
