The atmosphere was lovely. We really enjoyed our stay.

We've eaten at Steenpoate several times, but it's a shame the food doesn't taste as good as it did a year ago. Perhaps a change in the kitchen? I used to always... read more We've eaten at Steenpoate several times, but it's a shame the food doesn't taste as good as it did a year ago. Perhaps a change in the kitchen? I used to always have surf and turf, but unfortunately I can no longer rely on the beef being too dry, and the prawns on top are sometimes barely seared; they used to be nicely browned. The bread is also getting thinner and thinner... Now I prefer schnitzel, although not so long ago a friend of ours unfortunately had their schnitzel undercooked... Nevertheless, it's still delicious, certainly an isolated incident, but it's not as good as it used to be. The service is still top-notch, although recently I had the feeling the staff weren't getting along well with each other. It's a shame, especially when you usually get the feeling that you're really part of a family at tables close to the counter. But that was only a one-off experience. Nevertheless, Steenpoate remains a cozy restaurant, perfect for a stop with loved ones.

And then it hit m... read more I ordered the baked potato with chicken for self-pickup. While eating it, I noticed that the taste of the quark cream was very, very familiar. And then it hit me: the potato together with the cream tasted exactly like the one from Lidl that I've bought many times before! That's beyond outrageous and completely unacceptable. I will never eat there again or order anything from them.
