we stopped in after venturing off the motorway. The staff were very welcoming. This is a nice traditional pub offering a good selection of meals including what we wanted, a light lunch! We chose sandwiches and soup which were great along with a nice pot of tea! YMMV View all feedback.
What Shropshirelass56 doesn't like about Malt Shovel Inn, Telford:
Called in for lunch on a cold wet Monday. Pleasant room but cold real fire not lit which would have made a real difference. Only 4 people in the whole time we were there clearly a pub for older clientele. Meals were fine basic pub grub and very reasonable. Landlord polite and pub very clean. Possibly more atmosphere at night. Good range of beers. Would call again if in the area View all feedback.
This is a unique experience, like turning the clock back to how traditional British pubs used to be before the big chains became dominant. No piped music. No gaming machines. No computer-screen order taking. Fantastic real ale and excellent home-cooked food. The menu is simple, traditional and great value. This pub is a credit to the landlord and landlady.
A good friendly local pub! Thank you guys! We’ll come again soonThe malt shovel has parking and is a quiet road which can be used tooAt this time of year the garden and hanging baskets are really coming to life making it so attractiveKitchen staff are efficient and most friendly, bringing doggie treats and water bowl for Chester the Labrador The garden has many pub style benches and tables, set in the small space with picket fence!Bar staff serve quickly, I wish there was time to visit more often, I live about five mins walk away!Winter visits are so cosy with the log fire to warm us up after a dog walk

Have used this Pub on and off for many years, through successive landlords/publicans. It has always been a good beer destination with beers from Marston's/Banks's. Public bar is basic and dog friendly. Lounge smarter and carpeted throughout. Never had food here apart from crisps and a buffet once at a private function. Brad and Marg have re-vitalized the place since their arrival and it is as busy as it's ever been.
