Tour guide is 5 lar per person. Wine tasting has many options we choose 4 different wines with snacks for 26 lar. Bottle of Kindzmarauli 39 lar. 1 glass of wine (60ml) is 6 lar. Dinner for 3 people around 100 lar. I don't drink alcohol and I had a wonderful time at Shumi winery. Based on experience of my wine loving guests if you coming to visit get a tour first, choose the wine tasting option and then go to the wine shop and buy a bottle of wine you like. They will open it for you right there and you can enjoy it with your lunch or dinner.
Wonderful experience from start to finish: walk through the wine museum botanical gardens with more indigenous grapes grown just to show their heritage, walk past the topiary Griffin, past the fountain amd croaking frogs.... Sit in the garden and order from a wide range of traditional Gerorgian cuisine dishes and peruse the menu of wine tasting options. There 's something for everyone 's taste and budget and the staff were the most accommodating to help you understand and appreciate Georgian wine. Look out for the sweet ones, they 'll take you by surprise!
I love winery tour and learn about the fascinating process of wine making, especially Georgian wine that is known to have a signature taste that makes it truly popular. This winery is very cute and homey which also offer a lot of cool pictures opportunity. The staff served us with 2 different wines for tasting and we were taken to the wine cellar where they explained how the wine was made. Made a friend with their dog pet too and stole a selfie with him. They do have a gift shop on site, which I believe the best part of the tour a lot of guests are looking forward to. Brought a sweet brandy home. I'm a happy woman.
Excellent experience! The outdoor setting is lovely and green, but with plenty of shade. The tastings included snacks. Our server Teo was magnificent! She was informative, kind, and spoke excellent English. She took her time to answer our many questions. The tasting was excellent. We had four tastes two mtsvanes and two saperavis. One of each variety was produced in the European style, and one in the Georgian style, in a qvevri. It really helps you understand the difference of qvevri production! Highly recommended.
