While it is very nice that this place is ready to make many dishes with tofu on request, I did not find eating very delicious. the vegan egg rolls were greasy and without much filling. the vegan dimming sum was made with a teig that was much too thick and the fried sweet had a sose that seemed to have msg. The food is excellent as I like it. but the place feels like a dining room of a kibbut. The first thing you notice is that if you remove a few ornaments from the wall, it looks like a dining room of a school or something. We were not offered chiopsticks and instead of traditional fork and spoons such restaurants we actually serve a knife! It was surprising. The place is great for a cheap delicious Chinese meal, but I will not recommend bringing a date there.
Although it is very nice that this place is ready to make many dishes with tofu on request, I did not find the food very delicious. The vegan egg rolls were fat and without much filling. The vegan dimming sum was made with a dough that was much too thick. And the stirring vegetables had a sauce that MSG had.
There are kosher Chinese restaurants in almost every city in Israel. Unfortunately, what happens for Chinese food is usually something Asian-ish, of poor quality, cooked by migrant workers with little-to-no culinary experience that happen as Chinese and wear Asian clothes. Homa Sinit (the Wall of China) is the exception as it actually has Chinese property and employees who have brought the authentic taste of their home to Israel and you see it on the menu and taste it in every bite. Among its advantages, this is the only restaurant in Israel where you can enjoy Chow. It is called Lu Mian (hand noodles) and you need them for the square type (Re-bu-ah in Hebrew, or show them a place with your hands) to actually get Chow fun. The regular Chow fun comes in a brown sauce that is simple and tasty and like almost all meat dishes you can substituted tofu (or ask for another sauce). Among our other favorites are the Tofu Szechuan (which is spicy and comes from sizzling) and the Tofu Gon Bon (a light peanut sauce). For appetizers I recommend the authentic Baoze (damped dumplings) about the egg rolls that are good, but you can get this everywhere. As a New Yorker who spent every other weekend of my childhood to travel to Chinatown, I find Homa Sinit the only place in Israel that can even calm down my desire for real vege Chinese. While this place is unpretentious and lacks a more or unique romantic atmosphere, prices are very good and the food is authentic Chinese and good again!
