Incredible variety of pan dulce. My favorite was the largest ding dong knock-off I have ever seen. It was delicious, as was everything else I tried. Nice touch is their complimentary coffee and cafeteria style order. You can stroll the aisle with your tray and pinsas to pick your favorites. Reasonable prices and amazing selection of fresh pastries. Got try it! View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about El Mejor Pan de Tecate:
Being used to US bakeries and pastries this place has some very different tastes. Most pastries are hard and looks like 2nd day pastries. Breads are ok but overall this place is all hype. Pastry in Florida are better than this place but with less variety. View all feedback.
“Pan Dulce”. In Tecate spoils you with a special taste and traditional taste of bread.
For years the best sweet bread in town and still, the bad thing is that due to this even dug it opened 3 branches of the main business is always crowded
Last week with my neighbors, after a meal with seafood in Tecate, played there. In the first row of goodies, I put my eyes on a tray full of “tonnes”. They are Magd of some of the richest, sweetest, sticky dark... Fudge rodents, complete with a piped out tail, eyes and nose, with cut almond ears. Incredibly delicious and awesome funny!!! One of my neighbors also bought some of these little guys, but I don't think they made it home to La Mesa. I know that only two of my six rats made it home. We also bought Empanadas, some basket-like apple and pineapple pastries, some chocolates and some other items. When you arrive there, there are two parking spaces, one directly in front of the store, and if it is overcrowded, there is a highway on the east side of the building that will take you to the rear parking lot. Something I'm doing is that the car park manager has a dollar bill every time I visit. Final advice? Go there, you won't regret it if you don't wantpower like me!
El Mejor Pan de Tecate--the best bread in Tecate--completely lives up to its name. I've eaten sweet and savory breads and pastries in Mexico, Guatemala, and the US, and El Mejor Pan serves up some of the best I've ever had. Their pan dulce (sweet...bread) has the light sweetness you expect from this type of dessert. Definitely try their fruit-filled empanadas, their cocadas (similar to a coconut macaroon), and their orejas (large, flat puff pastries with cinnamon sugar that are shaped like ears).
A must stop if passing through! Dozens and dozens of the best baked breads and goodies! Fresh, inexpensive and amazing quality! Highly recommend!
