We enjoyed the okonomiyaki and udon from the menu. We traveled from Rotorua, and we absolutely love this restaurant and the owners. If I could give it 10 stars out of 5, I would! We made quite a few requests, and honestly, I thought I was being a bit demanding, but the staff were incredibly kind and accommodating. A big thank you from me and my friends! Bless you all! What User doesn't like about Matakite Japanese:
First off ordering online isn’t great.. you pay a surcharge for using your card. Then it doesn’t give you a time it will be ready. It just says please allow 20-30mins. We ordered at 6:14pm and it was ready at 6:23pm.... yeah great it’s ready so quickly but when you decide to do something before hand and you think you have time but you don’t. We are working our way through the whole menu and so far love all of it. Fresh, tasty, good portions, SUPER CLEAN. We always bring visitors to this restaurant. Highly recommend. Service: Dine in Meal type: Dinner Price per person: NZ$40–50 Recommended dishes: Burger, Vege Tempura with Prawn Tempura, Tempura, Fried Chicken, Beef Udon, Avocado, Spicy Beef Ramen
Lovely music playing, making the atmosphere incredibly accommodating. Definitely more on the pricer side of sushi, $3 for a small piece of salmon nigiri on top of all the other options you choose from. Service was a quiet girl who came in and out of the kitchen to take orders. Sushi quality was good, a little withered since I came in later in the day. No issues at all, lovely sushi place, great location, nice decor. Just steep pricing. Vegetarian options: Tofu nigiri
Got a few things out the cabinet, they were fresh and tasty as. Great value for money, Definitely will be back.
We had the Okonomiyaki and Odon off the menu. We came from Rotorua especially and love both this establishment and the owners. If I could give 10 stars out of 5, I would. Best sushi in tauranga, amazing fresh cooked meals as well. Very fresh and tasty.
