Description
Tucked in Taumarunui, this Thai eatery is a local hidden gem known for authentic flavours, generous portions and warm, speedy service in a comfortable, bustling setting. Highlights include moist peanut sauté chicken and rich yellow curry; many diners praise value and quick turnaround. We spent two lazy rest days in Taumarunui. Jasmine 's was always hopping, and for good reason. Serving Western-style breakfast and lunch and Thai dinner, there 's something for everyone. It also had one of the most pleasant dining rooms in town and friendly, efficient staff. Dinner was some of the best Thai food I 've had in a long time. The balance of salt, sweet, and sour was refreshing. Too much Thai food, in the States anyway, is more often than not overpowered by sweet. I could taste the tang of lime in the Tom Kha Gai at Jasmine 's, and it was delicious. The soup itself was thick and flavorful, with a very generous helping of chicken. The Dinosaur 's red curry duck was not stingy with the duck and packed with all of the complex flavors one hopes for in a Thai curry. I had the rest of my soup for breakfast (it was a deceivingly big portion, especially eaten with rice). We returned to the cafe for the Dinosaur 's breakfast. He is a self-professed eggs Benedict connoisseur and gives Jasmine 's Benedict a 4/5 . For a delicious-by-any-standards meal in Taumarunui, Jasmine 's is the way to go, especially for dinner.
I stopped for a night in this town to rest from long drives on my whirlwind north island trip. There are not many restaurants in this town, so my options were rather limited and I decided to have dinner at this bustling Thai restaurant. I wasn't expecting much given the lack of competition, but boy, was I pleasantly surprised. The food is excellent. I had the massaman curry and it was legit delicious.
I went here for dinner. I ordered the crispy pork Rad Na. The taste were okay. The portion were really huge. CONCLUSION RECOMMENDED!
Coming here as an Asian, the food is great, we had the prawn tom yum soup noodles and vegetarian fried rice was amazing honestly, it brought us back to Asia. The pad thai still isn't as similar to asian country, was abit too sweet and dry, but other then that it was alright. This place is great, the service people were kind and helpful. The spices in the food was well placed, as expected cause the chefs were thai. Wonderful place Food: 4
