Really good fish courses, excellent pasta quality and cooking time. The dining area is wide and white, with many nautical and wooden monuments. Mannered and nice staff, as usual with Italian hosts. (Y) Recommended View all feedback.
What penoriel doesn't like about Al Piccolo Porticciolo:
This restaurant is in a lovely position by the water's edge at San Vito. However, the English menu bore no resemblance to what was actually on offer. Beware of being railroaded into accepting bottled water which you do not want; beware of the expectation that you want the expensive antipasta. Risotto with the highest level fisherman. I think the best man has arrived. a guarantee. You're not wrong here.
Great value quality price, I highly recommend it, great service, clean and kind
I´ve been there last week on recommendation of our local host (B§B Palazzo and found it very pleasant indeed. The waiter (the dark skin one was all smile and sweet eyes and offered us the antipasti and the fishsoup which we gladly accepted. The house wine was brought and had too much water in it but we stayed; great mistake. It was a dinner that cost us the money we paid for the accommodation for 4 nights! (we were 4 pers. The food was good but the fish soup was an impressive big round plate with 3 fish heads and 5 fish pieces towards the tail so with less meat and a tomato sauce and many toasted breadloaf around the plate. In the end, they needed a long time of thinking how much to charge us and finally they settled for too much and no bill, just an oral bill (so to speak : 165€. We paid and left feeling cheated, so they spoiled our mood. That´s why just a star. The tourist are simply overcharged there so better find other options to enjoy your dinner in Taranto. :
This restaurant is in a lovely position by the water's edge at San Vito. However, the English menu bore no resemblance to what was actually on offer. Beware of being railroaded into accepting bottled water which you do not want; beware of the expectation that you want the expensive antipasta. Our choice of antipasta was grudgingly cobbled together and our main course choice was not available; only the catch of the day, which was unpriced. This fish was served with absolutely nothing else. The bill was double the amount that we had paid elsewhere for a much better meal and extras. Don't bother going.
We visited this restaurant several times, because it is worth going back for more! Food is excellent, service is great, price is right, and the atmosphere nice highly recommended.
