Excellent dinner tonight at Berrelli's! Confused to see a 3.8 rating, definitely not our experience! Food was excellent, well-executed and plentiful. Pictures of our entrees: the bone-in veal chop Parmesan, seafood risotto, and sea scallops with side broccolini and potatoes. The veal chop was huge; my husband could only finish half of it! My stepdaughter's seafood risotto was full of flavor and the shellfish was perf... View all feedback.
What Stacy doesn't like about Berrelli’s Italian Chophouse:
Overall, I went and did not have a great time. First of all, not only was the food just okay: it’s so severely overpriced. It’s actually insulting how much everything costs. A plain hamburger is $19. A filet mignon is over $60. What is this, the Upper East Side?? But not only that, they automatically add an 18% tip. We were 2 people. Not only was the service obnoxiously slow, the waiters were inattentive and overall... View all feedback.
My family all ordered pasta dishes. The vodka pasta was excellent, while my husband’s risotto was just average. My two kids had the spaghetti with meatballs, and they really enjoyed it.
Wow, what a letdown. We visited a few years ago and made it a priority to come back because it was genuinely the best Italian food we had ever tasted, with incredible flavor combinations and a diverse, creative menu. Unfortunately, that’s not the case anymore. The quality is comparable to Olive Garden, but even less flavorful. It feels like we’re in a completely different restaurant now. We won’t be returning.
Overall, my experience at this restaurant was quite disappointing. To start, the food was merely average, yet the prices are outrageous; it feels almost insulting. A basic hamburger costs $19, and a filet mignon is over $60. Are we in the Upper East Side or something? On top of that, they automatically add an 18% gratuity. There were just two of us, and despite that, the service was painfully slow, with waitstaff who were inattentive and left a lot to be desired. While the setting is lovely, I can't recommend this place unless you’re prepared to be let down and spend a fortune on a simple meal.
Worst experience I’ve had at a reataurant. First, we waited for over an hour for the food. Three children, hungry. No follow up on timing. Finally, the food comes. My mussel dish comes but there were no mussels inside the shells. The waiter takes it back says they will redo. Twenty minutes later he comes back says the mussels are bad batch, order anything from the menu. By this time we’ve been there 2 hours and our evening plans are ruined. I said no thank you. Atmosphere was ruined because we were waiting for so long for our food. They offer dessert and take the payment of one dish off the bill.Right after we pay, manager comes by and says so sorry for the inconvenience, the entire meal is on us. So, we say ok they redeemed themselves some. Two minutes later manager comes back and says sorry I meant to say what I said to you to another table. We gave you free deserts so you are good to go, we still charging for your meal. It was over $250 gone to waste.Wow, what a punch in the balls.
The parm dishes are dry, along with the sides of pasta. They fry the chicken cutlets and eggplant until dark brown (overcooked). The sauce is kept light almost nonexistent and is light in flavor. Pasta is sauced, then plated. Basically sauce flavored pasta is best to described. Server was good. Probably won’t return for a while. Nice atmosphere tho.
