The Portico Cafe - Tampa

Very impressed with the place. Just walked in last Sunday, this is a one of a kind. First church I have been involved with in 53 years UPDATE: retired to this church several times was not only ignored but felt unwelcomed and received no help whatsoever. It takes more than painting homeless people's names on a wall to make a difference clearly you don't go the extra mile. I hope people aren't giving you money to help homeless people.

Portico Cafe exceeded all my expectations for the lunch on Christmas day 2022. I arrived 40 minutes early After I signed in and used the mens room , it was immaculate. I was allowed to wait in the dining room until the lunch is served. The food was brought to the table and I was able to get a second plate after asking nicely. I will eat here again.

Awesome place! Even the local rif-raf is cordial but hygiene challenged. Something should be done ..I don't know maybe a shower station and porto-potties.

I visited here for a community meeting presented by Cafe con Tampa and loved the atmosphere.

After catching a great instagram photo of the Tampa postcard mural, I recommend that you walk around the N Florida Ave area. There you can find other colourful murals, old church sites and an impressive bronze sculpture of Homeless Jesus. After sightseeing, you may wish to recharge with a refreshing snack and coffee. For that I suggest you treat yourself at The Portico cafe. The Portico cafe has good food, tasty coffee and friendly staff. This community centre has the spirit of giving hope to those who may need it the most.
