Made to order breakfast sandwich. Excellent. Good selection of German food/ snack imports. Friendly staff. 1st visit, will be back!!

I ordered the Goulashsoup. In Germany it usually comes with a slice of bread. I asked to add this since it did not appear like they do that at all. I had to make sure it was not the wobbly toast bread Americans are being used to so asked for it to be a slice of rye bread that is tougher than the soft bread they also offer.I used the waiting time to look around and check inventory and prices. Few original German imported items but also a lot of lookalike German products made in the USA or who knows where. Price range is Publix 100%.After about 10 minutes average time to thaw a soup in the microwave) I got this plastic bowl of soup with my German style slice of bread. The soup was 4.50 and they charged me for the slice of bread another 75 cents ! The bread was some older and not so fresh anymore, a bit on the dry side. That is why I did not buy a package from them, they did not pass the squeeze for freshness test.The soup did not look like standard Goulashsoup as being served all over Europe. I had the best Goulashsoup ever in Budapest, Hungary while the iron curtain was still up. So I consider myself a bit experienced in this matter. I just LOVE Goulashsoup. I even make it myself!But what I had there in front of me did not look like anything I ever had named Goulashsoup. It was a clear broth with some veggies in it and I could not really identify the beef part of it.Fist taste was was spicy probably from the Paprika in it, but then again too watery. The overall taste was just remotely reminding me of a shadow of Goulashsoup. And then the beef, while I was expecting small er bit than you use in a beef stew, there was what looked like diced pieces of a sausage or something. And sparingly spread in the small plastic bowl. Taste alone identified these bits to be beef related.I dipped the bread in the soup like we Germans do. That made it less dry and easier to eat since it was rather dry.Conclusion:This is another German deli that has to adjust to the American taste to survive. Authenticity gets lost on the way to pay the rent.And the Americans are happy with it.My soup did not compare to anything I ever had traveling all over Europe . My expectations were disappointed. Maybe it would have been better if it was not called Goulashsoup?

Attentive and helpful service.Food was well cooked and flavourful.The brats and schnitzel were very good, and the beers fantastic.Lots to look at, and plenty of imports to peruse. Tight on space with so many things and people present.

Just got some food here. Very good but this review is about allergies! They were amazing! We had dairy and sesame allergies that resulted in multiple calls to check ingredients. They checked everything they weren’t 100% on and took time to read me a label. Also patient with each call and didn’t act annoyed at all even though we called right at lunch time in accident. We put an order in online and they even called us to verify a couple things to make sure the allergies were handled correctly! Huge win for an allergy family!

I've always loved this spot and after years of not visiting, treated myself to my favorite, Westphalian Ham on rye with a slight spread of butter. And much like the cafe itself, it was simple, delicious and soul-satisfying. This is an institution and definitely Old Tampa. There are not a lot of these treasures left, so fet yourself there soon.
