What Barbara Sommerer doesn't like about Edison: Food+drink Lab:
Appetizers were excellent, drinks were excellent. 4 of us had dinners. Octopus excellent. Prime steak was chewy more like choice) Short ribs were fatty, and my scallops had a strong ammonia smell, that I noticed after eating 1/2 of one. ?not til I got home and looked it up did I realize that the ammonia smell is from bad scallops) They brought me a different meal. I happened to discover this gem of a restaurant, and what a delightful find it is! It's chef-owned, and you can truly taste the passion in every dish. I opted for the five-course tasting menu paired with wine, and I was blown away by the layers of flavor in each course. The combinations are fantastic and really make the dishes stand out. Listen to your server—what I initially thought was olive oil turned out to be chili oil, which gave a wonderful kick to the meal! If you're looking for an exceptional dining experience, be sure to make a reservation and go. The food is outstanding, and the service is exceptional. Treat yourself—you deserve it!
In my opinion, Edison offers the best dining experience in Tampa. The staff is not only friendly but also passionate about their cuisine, knowledgeable, and skilled at making excellent recommendations. The food is truly a work of art on a plate. If there were an Olympic sport for mouthwatering dishes, this place would win all the medals. Be sure to ask for Mathew; he assisted us with our choices and ensured that my selections were safe due to my food allergies. We will definitely be returning, eagerly anticipating the incredible flavor combinations that will delight my taste buds.
I had the Aleppo seared scallops with radish and broccolini. Our server (MacKenzie), who was FANTASTIC, allowed me to switch out the muhammara, pea tendrils, crispy panisse, and fava beans for the broccolini....due to current dietary restrictions. Everything was delicious. My friends had ribeye, duck, and scallops respectively. They loved their selections as well. I also ordered carrot cake to go for my wife. She enjoyed it. I will definitely return.
My wife and I had a wonderful experience. Chef very creative. She changes the menu on a regular basis. Blends different ingredients to create a culinary adventure that is delicious. Cannot wait to go back to see what is new. Matthew was our server and food guide. He gave us great suggestions. First class and very friendly. Unique drink menu.
The Edison Food Lab was the best restaurant I’ve ever eaten at. Coming from a chef and food and beverage director background, I’m constantly disappointed at the majority of cookie cutter restaurants. This one has separated itself from the crowd. Each item on their menu was a masterpiece, including the cocktails. Highly recommend this place.
