I visited Caribbean Crown for the first time today based on a recommendation from my oxygen supplier. I ordered three chicken roti and one goat roti, and I have to say the goat roti was excellent. I didn't try the chicken myself, but my friends said it was tasty. The service was very friendly and welcoming, and I will definitely return to try the jerk chicken with rice and peas. What Kaja Maciejewski doesn't like about Caribbean Crown West Indian:
I don't think they fully understand the differences between vegetarian and vegan options. The coconut bread is supposed to be vegetarian, but since the owner purchases it from someone else, they can't guarantee the exact ingredients. The food lacked freshness and flavor, which might be more appealing to American tastes, but it was all quite mushy. I only purchased a small amount, but it all ended up getting thrown ou... From the moment I caught a whiff of the food, I knew I was going to enjoy it. When I opened the takeout box, I was amazed by the generous portion and thought, "I'll probably just eat half and save the rest for later." But once I took a bite, I couldn't stop! Auntie still uses Styrofoam containers, but I suspect she must have bought a huge supply long ago and is using them up so they don't go to waste. I might do the same if I owned a restaurant. Plus, they keep the salt and sugar levels low in the dishes and house-made drinks, which is definitely a bonus!
I dont think they understand vegetarian and vegan difference. The coco bread has to be vegetarian, however the owner buys it from someone else, so they cannot tell you exactly what is in it. The food was not fresh, lacked flavor, maybe more suited for an American taste bud, and it was so much mush. I bought quite a bit. Threw all of it out.
Amazing food with extremely kind staff!! I get the doubles (vegan sandwich) and it’s under $3! Delicious deserts, always ask for ingredients. The staff are very helpful to vegan customers!
We visited on a Saturday afternoon and were disappointed to discover they had run out of beans. We also waited quite a while at the counter for service, even after ringing the bell. To top it off, we found a hair in one of the doubles. Not a great experience.
