Rendezvous Cafe - Tameside
Rendezvous Cafe
Description
Rendezvous Cafe in Hyde offers a mix of positive and negative experiences, with inconsistent food freshness and service quality. Some customers praise the delicious pies and scones, highlighting the friendly staff and accommodating atmosphere. Others have encountered burnt food, disappointing drinks, and poorly treated customers. Despite the affordable prices and tasty meals, issues with food quality, staff attitude, and cafe organization have left some patrons unsatisfied. While some leave happy with their experience, others feel unwelcome and disrespected. The decision to return to Rendezvous Cafe ultimately seems to be a mixed bag for customers seeking a cozy dining spot.
Feedback
The food at this restaurant is delicious and reasonably priced. The cheese pie was tasty, and my husband loved the hotpot. Unfortunately, the chips were frozen instead of using real potatoes, but I understand that many places do the same. The fact that the tables were full speaks for itself.
Visited this restaurant today with my family after a year of being abroad. It was nice to see the familiar staff, but unfortunately, I had a disappointing experience with my toasted tea cake. Despite repeatedly asking for it, it arrived 20 minutes later burnt and inedible in some parts. Providing a properly toasted tea cake should not be a difficult task. I believe the kitchen staff should step up and improve their treatment of customers and the quality of the meals they serve.
The Potato Leek Soup lacked flavor and the bread was extremely hard. It was clear that the bread had not been freshly baked that day. Overall, this dining experience was very disappointing.
Once we placed our orders and paid, we waited for our food. The same staff member was loudly calling out order numbers and food items in a confusing manner, causing some customers to not claim their orders. The noisy atmosphere of the cafe, with customers chatting amongst themselves, only added to the chaos. I overheard the staff member making derogatory remarks about the customers, suggesting that if they weren't talking so much, they might be able to hear better. As a paying customer, I found this attitude towards the diners disrespectful. Many of the patrons were older individuals or friends meeting for a casual meal, and they shouldn't be expected to remain silent while waiting for their food. While I personally had no issues with my food, which was a bit bland but still edible, I noticed that some other customers received meals that looked unappetizing. In fact, if I had been served some of those dishes, I would have sent them back without hesitation - particularly the badly burnt toast. Overall, due to my negative experience with the staff member, I do not plan on returning to Rendezvous Cafe.
