The chips... read more I had been to this restaurant before and was not impressed, but decided to give it another try tonight. Unfortunately, I was thoroughly disappointed. The chips that came with my meal were cold, although they were quickly replaced. However, the fish had a strange chemical taste that was off-putting. My husband ordered the steak and ale pie, which had too much pastry and not enough steak filling. The mashed potatoes were also unappetizing. We informed the waitress of our dissatisfaction, but received no feedback. It seems like they don't care about customer satisfaction as they have plenty of passing trade. We will not be returning to this restaurant.

My husband, daughter and I stayed at the Premier Inn next door for three nights, with breakfast included. Breakfast was served from 7am to 9am on weekdays and 7... read more My husband, daughter and I stayed at the Premier Inn next door for three nights, with breakfast included. Breakfast was served from 7am to 9am on weekdays and 7am to 10am on weekends. Upon arrival, a staff member greeted us and directed us to help ourselves to hot and cold food. Previously, we had to order our hot breakfast, so this self-service option was much better. The breakfast selection included coffee, tea, juices, milk, water, fresh fruit, pastries, yogurt, cereal, jams, Nutella, and a full English breakfast. However, the scrambled eggs were bland and the hash browns did not taste fresh on the first day, though they were better on subsequent days. We decided to try the menu for dinner on our last night. Using the phone app to place our order was easy, but our food took 50 minutes to arrive. My husband's steak and ale pie was rock hard and my gammon sandwich was dry. My daughter's mac and cheese light bites tasted like they were from a tin and her order was served with an excessive amount of lettuce. We were unable to order dessert as the kitchen was already closing at 8:45pm, even though the website stated food was served until 9pm. Overall, the lack of service and rushed atmosphere was disappointing.
