What Barry Baker doesn't like about Heroes Of Waterloo:
Took ages to order our drinks had to ask twice to order. The drinks took ages to arrive. Ordered fish and chips (eventually!! again had to remind them we hadn't ordered) when the meal arrived the cod was awful and rubbery, and...curry wasn't good. Had sticky toffee pudding that was nice actually. Ordered coffees they never arrived but had been put on our bill! Not a friendly place at all. That, together with the poor... View all feedback.
Lovely staff and good food served quickly. Very good value for money and large portions. The industry is going through a tough time and recruitment is bordering on feeling like your in the trenches. I run the Hartshead inn up the road and know of...some of the challenges that this place might be facing but I also saw the work that was put in over lockdown and how this place has been decorated. I would bet my bottom dollar the kitchen team are in a phase of having to train new and possibly Inexperienced chefs. Along with supply chain issues and a new menu it can’t be easy. Keep going, keep pushing and I hope your guests keep supporting you. If you need anything I’m only up the road.
First time we had visited, coming up for a family visit. The party ordered off both menus everyone was impressed with their food. I had the Mushroom burger, which in some restaurants can be little more than a grilled mushroom slapped in a bun,...but this was well seasoned and dressed with roasted vegetables a tasty sauce, best I've had. The pizzas looked really good my son demolished his burger in record time. The service was friendly prompt, even though it was busy. I would definitely come back next time we venture north.
The staff were very pleasant, smartly dressed efficient. Meals were good, reasonably priced. Nice surroundings.

We went out for dinner with friends last night and unfortunately, we will not be returning anytime soon. The service was extremely slow (the poor waitstaff received a lot of criticism, which I believe is due to poor management). The food took a long time to come out for all courses, with some main meals even having to be sent back. This was not just our experience, as desserts took so long to arrive that we were close to cancelling them. Overall, we were extremely disappointed. It seems like the restaurant may have been overbooked and had too many customers, possibly due to a shortage of staff. It's a shame because we have lost all confidence in this place. They definitely need better organization and management in both the front of house and kitchen. Despite the challenging night and tables returning meals elsewhere, the waiting staff were still very polite, kind, and helpful.
