They said they would clean it, but it's hard to clean waffle manufacturers, so personally I decided not to eat here. I'm sure it's delicious, but I'd rather have more uprising.

We come here every time we visit Costa Rica. The kitchen staff will wipe the waffle iron before it is used for us. We didn't get sick. They made sure to clean the cooker for me and I was fine. I’m VERY sensitive to cross contamination but I did okay with this. They even have GF mix you can take home. The waffle was delicious! the syrup is not gluten free I asked for honey instead.
