After visiting some friends at Praia dos Carneiros, we went for a late lunch to the nearby Bora Bora restaurant which, we were told, was located in a very attractive setting, including a very large natural swimming pool (piscina). We were flabbergasted when parking attendants...demanded a fee of (about for EACH person in our vehicles. We were sorely tempted to leave but we were hungry and there were no readily available alternatives. The restaurant lived up to its reputation in terms of a well-maintained, lush tropical vegetation as well as its beautiful beach and bay setting. Strikingly, the restaurant which features large attractive huts, under which at least tables are located and were, when we arrived, almost fully occupied, proved to be good. We were initially afraid that such a large restaurant would be a factory-type enterprise, like a McDonald-by-the-sea. Fortunately our fears were mostly dispelled: service was average (there was definitely a large staff taking care of customers) and fairly quick. There was a large selection of well-mixed cocktails; food was typical Brazilian fare with a strong focus on seafood (platters and stews of fish, calamari, shrimp, mussels.. with rice and farofa, although chicken and beef plates were also available. Portions were large and our selections very tasty, indeed. Prices were on the high side, given the quality of the food and proximity to a beautiful environment. Ratings could, and should be, a full five star, were it not for the disgraceful ripoff that awaits each visitor at the site entrance. This should remain a major stain on the reputation of this restaurant, as long as management maintains this money-grubbing approach.
The only good thing about this place is its location next to the beach. As to the rest, you pay high prices for average food and a terrible service. It’s mostly for tourist groups that wouldn’t look for other options.
The beach was interesting. Go early and the tide is low and you can walk far out into the water and it’s not deep. In the afternoon the tide come up and the beach is gone. You can still enjoy the water. The snorkeling is...not worth it, but the water is clean. For the service of the restaurant, it was quite bad. Extremely slow and it seemed like the waiter was sleepwalking. Food was ok, not bad, but not good. Expensive for Brazil and what you get. There’s a per person charge to enter. Kids are not charged.
Horrible experience My girlfriend and I drove to Praia dos Carneiros from Porto de Galinhas and decided to park the car in the Bora Bora Restaurant, they do have some good infrastructure for parking (for BRL per person), and they give you a...pass where you have access to the facilities (restaurant and bathroom). We sat at one of the tables close to the beach, which by the way is beautiful indeed, and up until then our experience was quite pleasant, even though there was a lot of people there. In the restaurant, they also have some loud speakers where I wished they were playing music, but many times the employees of the restaurant would speak on the speakers about different sales, promotions, etc, which obviously bothered the whole relaxing experience piece. As a customer, I just want to sit by the beach and have a nice meal without having to hear last call for product x, promotion y, etc The waiter came to take our order and we order drinks and some food, and this is where the problems started. First of all, our drinks took minutes to come coconut waters.. and after finally bringing the drinks, we waited another minutes and the food hadn't come yet. That's when I called the waiter attention and let him know we'd been waiting over minutes for the food we ordered. He said he was going to check and then disappeared for another minutes. Finally, we saw him coming towards us with some food, but it wasn't OUR food. At that point we had already waited for over hour and we were hungry and frustrated. I asked the waiter (again) if the food was coming, and he looked confused and tried to put in our table some other food order that wasn't what we asked. He then left and came back for a third time (holding no food), and saying that unfortunately there was a mistake and they wouldn't be able to process our order AT ALL because the food was not available. After all of that wait, we were upset, hungry, and frustrated (with reason), so we asked for the bill, and this is where we felt really disrespected as customers. We asked for the bill so we could get out of the place as soon as possible, and the waiter instead of just getting us the bill so we could be on our way, he went to different tables to deliver/pick up food. When he finally gave us the bill I went to the cashier myself to pay for it, to avoid more waiting. I will be going back to Praia dos Carneiros but not to this restaurant in particular (just for the parking which is the only thing that work out well).
Bora Bora was indicated trough the internet and also by the gas station professional. Place very well organized and clean. You have to pay to get in and stayed at restaurants area. But for my surprise there is no place at the beach in...front of the restaurant. You have to leave the Bora Bora area to reach the beach and also walk a little bit to right in order to find a very beautiful beach place. At that place you can find a hawk Ednaldo very kind and nice professional. Very cold Brahma for In fact Bora Bora has a nice food (shrimp for Heineken long neck but that place is a kind of support area for people that want take a boat to do some tour trough the reefs. Next time I will try Beijupira restaurante besides Bora Bora and just in front the beach. Seems to have a very nice environment.
