After a three-hour walk along the canal with my wife Pam and our beloved lab Izzy, we found a warm welcome at this pub. There’s direct access from the trail to the garden, which was perfect for Izzy. They’ve thoughtfully placed water bowls on the grass for pets, which is a nice touch. The pub features a variety of garden games, like giant Connect Four and Jenga, to keep curious minds entertained. Been coming here every summer for the last 20 years. There have been many owners during that time but the commitment to real ales has remained a constant. The latest owners have made a great start : excellent choice of reasonably priced, pub-friendly meals and an ongoing redesign of the beer garden. If you're in the area this is THE pub to visit.
Great food, great service, great value. So good we went back for Sunday lunch after Saturday dinner!

We love this pub, been visiting it quite a lot over the past couple of years. The landlord and all the staff make it what it is. Warm welcome, lovely food and an excellent selection of real ales. The twice yearly beer festivals they host are well worth a visit. We've recently heard that for one reason or another the Star Inn has been put up for sale by the brewery. Not good news ! It would be a great shame to see the landlord/lady go after all the hard work they have put in over the years. They have made it what it is today, a great pub that people return to time after time ....
Bed there had not opened a night until 17 clock yesterday night the cook was not working there day out and was recommended to eat the white hard for eating where I went to replièd there for eating 12 at the **** meal I had for 14 pounds lamb steak that she had her shoe with denis steak and ale cake so much that no filling and steve had been boiled over the
