The food was absolutely amazing! It was my first experience with Peruvian cuisine, and I can assure you it won't be my last. The pasta was delightful, and the yucca was cooked to perfection. I had read about a happy hour deal, so I was a bit surprised to find none when I arrived. What Lionel Gibson doesn't like about Cafe De Martin:
wow! I was blown away from this Peruvian kitchen in the heart of tallahassee! we ordered the cause de langostinos as an appetizer, that was a baptism of an egg, avocado with a mild chili paste and top notch ceviche! we also ordered the lomo saltado with bark meat, which was a simple Peruvian dish with so delicate meat and was seasoned for perfection! the atmosphere and the room made me feel home and relaxed too: I ca... However, the food is incredibly good, and I guarantee you won't be disappointed!
Motivated in part by Frank P.'s review highlighting the juicy and flavorful beef sandwich, I decided to order the Asado Sandwich. It sounded delicious in the description, but sadly, the beef turned out to be as dry as could be. I imagined that if they simmered it with some stock, it could regain its juiciness, but today it was so dry that it was difficult to swallow without water. I mentioned this to the staff, and while they apologized, they did not offer any substitutions. I also tried the flan (crema volteada), which is a bit denser than other flans but quite good. I don't want to dismiss Cafe de Martin based on just one disappointing sandwich, so I'm willing to give them another chance due to their intriguing menu. Next time, I plan to try whichever pork sandwich they recommend as a juicier alternative. I'll update you after my next visit to let you know how it goes!
The Peruvian food here is absolutely incredible. The lomo saltado and aji de gallina are exceptional; I've tried the lomo saltado with both steak and chicken, and while both are delicious, the steak is outstanding. The fried yucca appetizer is fantastic as well—super crispy, and the huancaina and balsamic dip enhance it perfectly. The asado sandwich is also quite good, and the potato wedges that accompany it are really tasty. For drinks, both the red and white sangria are excellent! This restaurant is definitely a great spot in town, offering some of the best food in Tallahassee.
First time coming to Cafe de Martin. The environment was lively. They had live music playing and some guests were dancing. It was a wonderful experience. Food was amazing. Different in taste which is what I look for when trying international food. I do think they'll need to find a bigger space as it felt like it was a little crowded. A bar wouldn't be the worst thing in the world especially when music is involved and someone doesn't have a date. I hope they keep up the hard work!
Excellent food best coffee and wonderful fast service. Great food atmosphere and ambiance. Highly recommended!!
