Yumi Japanese Restaurant - Talahiban

Japanese restaurant nowadays are more specialized due to competition. If you want to eat Ramen, there plenty of Ramen house selection. If you want Katsu, there plenty of different Katsu restaurant to choose. So, what about the typical Japanese restaurant that offers everything. You end up with a typical Japanese dining experience. What will differentiate this restaurant from other Japanese restaurant? Typically, not much. I ate their bento box, USDA steak. Its good but it's also the same typical Japanese dining experience as with other Japanese restaurant.

Food too oily, would suggest you to order something thats not fried. Cocktails are at happy hour before 8pm. Green Apple mojito was good. Its very quiet than the usual places. No music on its own. Courtesy food court, hole in the wall. Its a good casual place to hangout.

Whenever we are near Yumi we always make a point to stop by. The service is great. They are always friendly, always near, always attentive. They bring our food in a timely manner and it always taste great. It's fresh and the presentation is awesome. We always get sashimi, so that has to be fresh. A must place to visit for freshness and great service.

Not much people on a saturday lunch, making the place peaceful and relaxingAs we entered, there was a simple greeting, none of that loud japanese greeting we would hear in other japanese restos. Once seated and when we were ready to order, i was somewhat surprised and dumbfounded as the person who got our order, a guy named miko, fielded our orders, all 12 of them, purely by memory. Impressive. I noticed the other female staff had to use a paper and pen to write down orders of other tables who surely ordered much less than my group (we were 6).food was generally good: different ramens, sukiyaki, beef, tofu, gyudon. Our glasses of water were kept refilled. It seems miko also remembered who ordered what because when the ramens arrived it was served to the person who ordered it. Others who helped served us where also efficient and professional. Kudos to whoever trained them.

Yumi is one of our family's comfort restaurant. Our favorites include spicy tuna sushi, chicken teriyaki, tonkatsu, salmon tepan, spicy ramen and mixed tempuras. If we're really hungry, we go Bento. We love that they serve hot food hot and cold food cold. Service is friendly and fast. Their tables could be bigger tho - but maybe we just order so much each time we visit.
