Helmut's Place - Taiwala

Helmut's is one of the oldest spots in Alona to shoot pool, located just off the beach. It is always bustling with activity and is a popular spot for meeting local expats, particularly those from Germany. A visit to Alona isn't complete without enjoying a beer at Helmut's.

Found this bar by chance and recommended from Staff here at Bellevue Resort. I asked where can I go and watch my favourite sport 'Rugby". Met Helmut, asked him If I can watch NZ team vs Lions. He searched and magic the game was being played Crusaders vs The British Lions. To top it off he also sold my favourite German Beer...."WEISTAPHANER" ....Cheers HelmutT the Kiwi from NZ...

We decided to visit this restaurant later in the evening to escape the club-like atmosphere of the bars nearby. The crowd was great and had a positive energy. It wasn't too crowded. The beers were reasonably priced and playing pool was enjoyable. I ended up coming back for another visit.

We came here several nights for a cocktail or two. Cheap and friendly, a good spot at night to go with a friend or two. There is food too but didn't try that.

My wife and I went to this restaurant for a night out. The beers were very cold and my wife was thrilled that they had tap beer available. We ordered a couple of dishes, one of them being sizzling gambas which was very good. We were pleased with the food, although we found out that they do not cook it themselves, but rather have it delivered from the restaurant next door. We preferred the atmosphere at Helmuts. They also played some great classic rock music. Overall, we were happy with our choice to dine here and actually ended up coming back a few times.
