Nice little dog friendly spot with a big sunny deck that the dogs loved. A couple Heinekens and cold beers were had while we waited for our electric car to charge up the road. Very friendly staff, highly recommend visiting. James Ashwin View all feedback.
Enjoyed our first lunch at Pepe's. Lovely relaxing location by the water. Friendly staff the waitress even took time to have a joke with the children! We thought that was a nice extra touch, given children are often ignored by wait staff. The café was very busy, but our meals came quite quickly and were value for money. We will definitely return on our next visit to Tairua.
We came in for breakfast, the staff where so polite and so friendly, we didn't have to wait long after we ordered, the food was so beautifully presented, it was almost a shame to eat it, it had pretty decorative flowers around the sides. It tasted fantastic, and was a very generous portion, also the coffee was wonderful, we went back the next morning for another coffee, we will always go there when we are in Tairua, which is quite often. Thank you so much, wonderful place.
We pulled into Tairua and walked along the main street looking for somewhere with a decent selection for lunch that was child friendly. We walked in then straight out of 3 places that didn't fit the bill. We jumped in the car thinking we'd hold out for the next town ... But as we drove down the street, we spotted The Pepe Cafe and quickly pulled in.There was a good selection in the cabinet, big made to order menu, reasonable prices plus plenty of seating and all right next to a playground! We picked out a few items from the cabinet my toastie was perfect (generous with the fillings, lovely fresh bread , hubby raved about his chicken wrap (filling and tasty and though hubby thought the carrot cake was a bit dry, the toppings were generous (cranberries even! our boy ate it happily ... although a lot didn't make it to his mouth (my apologies to the staff who had to clean the highchair! .Drinks were fine and the staff were helpful. Some of the cooked breakfasts we saw coming out to other diners looked delicious creatively served. We will make a point of stopping there next time we're passing through.
A group of us went to Tairua for my birthday and went to The Pepe for breakfast. The service was very helpful and everyone enjoyed their food (I was far too full to finish mine, it was great value for money). I didn't mention needing to be dairy-free, but when the issue came up the waiter simply advised that for future reference it would be much easier to book in as being dairy-free and had no problem going back and fixing the issue. A nice waitress also came and gave me a few complimentary packets of jam/honey for my toast rather than me having butter. It just overall went smoothly and the service was excellent. 5 Stars.
