My favorite restaurant in Taipei, and perhaps in all of Taiwan. It's more than just a great place to spend money. While they are known for their selection of Kavalan whisky and cocktails, the menu also showcases the diverse elements of Taiwanese culture - from food to flowers, drinks to tastes, and even festivals. This is the perfect spot to introduce foreign friends to Taiwanese culture, and a place you can visit we... View all feedback.
Highly recommended. One of best bar in town. Kavalan whisky, unique cocktail, reasonable price and nice environment. The bar is with around 50 seats and it serves foods as well.
Such a fun experience. Custom made cocktails and amazing whisky. Combined with great service.
Service was great! Was introduced to a lot of Kavalan Whisky. It was quite empty the night I went so the atmosphere was very quiet and relaxing.
I thought this was a really unique experience — you would be hard pressed to find a bar that lets you try Kavalan at the prices that are offered here. We made a reservation (which is easy enough to figure out on the website) but it turned out we were the only ones in the bar for the first hour or so. We opted in for a flight — around $30 for three pours of Kavalan, some from the limited edition barrels that line the entrance. I think the coolest part of this spot is the entrance. As you enter the building, head to the second floor. As you entire the restaurant, make a left and press the outline of Taiwan on the wall — the barrel doors will open, revealing the Kavalan Bar. The staff was incredibly friendly and guided us toward the “best” selections. They were well informed and able to explain how the different types were aged and made. We also glanced at the pairing menu — whiskey with a small snack — and it would definitely be something that would bring me back. They have small bites to go with your drinks. It’s quite dark and quiet on the inside — a perfect atmosphere to try such a fantastic drink.
The bar on the second floor of the building is a really nice place, almost like a restaurant. The entrance can be a bit hard to find, as the walls open up. I recommend making a reservation, but I didn't and it worked out fine. Everyone there is very friendly. James, the bartender, is knowledgeable and can make drinks tailored to your preferences. I tried the smokey martini and it was excellent. Then I had a smokey Kavalan-neat, which started off well but hit me hard after a few sips. The atmosphere is classy but not snobbish. I had a great time there on New Year's Eve.
