I was thrilled to discover a vegan version of the famous egg cakes in Taiwan! The cakes were incredibly delicious, with all of them being vegan except for the cheese. They also offer two rotating limited flavors; during my visit, they had taro mochi! View all feedback.

I have not had traditional Taiwanese chicken egg cakes since becoming vegan, so this was a real treat for me. Out of the six flavors available, all were vegan except for cheese: red bean, nuts, chocolate, almond custard, and curry chick'n. The last two were limited time flavors, so there may be different options available when you visit. The original cakes without fillings are ready to go, but the filled ones are baked to order, so there may be a bit of a wait. Orders must be in multiples of five - five original cakes cost NT$40, five of one flavored cake cost NT$50, and choosing two flavors in any desired combination costs NT$55. Among the beverage options, only the fresh milk tea is not vegan, so try the plum tea or black tea instead. The owner also has a collection of old CDs that you can look through and take home for free. I had a great conversation with her while she prepared my order, and she even gave me an extra cake for checking in on Facebook and bringing my own container. The batter had a hint of lemon, and the almond custard had bits of almonds in it. The curry chick'n was made with potatoes, carrots, and battered tofu - it was delicious! I was so full after eating all of the cakes that it served as my dinner. I look forward to trying more of her flavors next time.
In addition to the delicious cakes, the restaurant also has a collection of old CDs that patrons can browse through and take home for free. I had a conversation with the chef as she prepared three curry chicken and two almond custard cakes for me. She even threw in an extra original cake for me because I mentioned it on Facebook, and another one because I brought my own container. How thoughtful! The cakes had a hint of lemon that I enjoyed, and the almond custard had small almonds in it while the curry chicken was made with carrots, chicken, and pancakes. It was all so delicious that it ended up being my dinner. I can't wait to try more flavors in the future.
The cost of 5 cakes of the same flavor has gone up to 60 NTD. Opting for a second flavor will cost 65 NTD for 5 cakes that can be mixed and matched. You are limited to choosing up to 2 flavors. The friendly lady prepares them fresh in front of you. The menu is not in English, but all flavors, except one, are vegan-friendly.
