The Halo-Halo dessert was tasty but lacking in natural ingredients. The café has a new look but limited parking. The place is spacious but always packed, with an affordable menu and improved food quality. Good air-conditioning and wifi, along with a mini library and delicious food options, make this a great spot to unwind. The café is popular among students, with a hands-on owner promoting literacy. Fred's Halo-Halo is recommended for its unique shaved ice candy.
What makes this coffee shop special from any other shops I visited are the selection of books you can read while enjoying that cup of coffee. The cafe's calm ambiance completes the euphoria every book lover wants. It's truly a great place to read, refill...(coffee), and relax. Aside from coffee, books, and ambiance, this cafe also serves mouth-watering meals and luscious desserts that would surely make you binge. In one setting I was able to order their Halo-halo, Fred's Fries, Keep Calamansi, and Breaded Pork Chop Bowl. What I highly recommend trying out is their Special Halo-halo. It is simply the best tasting Halo-halo I've ever tasted!
The vibe in Tagbilaran is normally chill, but some places are meant to be hideaways for ME times. I found my nook in Fred's. Drinks and food are students' prices. Come in-between peak eating hours, since studes can be...noisy?! At their Truffle Frappe is...a bliss to savor, while listening to light rock music and reading that book which brings you to wondrous places...Aahhh!
My first time in Fred's. Interiors were great, a straight forward book/coffee shop. Noise level was minimum so it is a perfect place to read books, study and catch up with friends and family. Friendly and amazing service by the staff. Ordered halo halo since...I've been told that they serve good halo halo in town. Most probably the best halo halo I had. Ice was finely crushed and flavorful. There were not too many unnecessary ingredients which makes it very unique. You don't need to add sugar as for me, it was already perfectly sweet. Topped with Ube ice cream and rice crisps for additional texture, it is the perfect partner for the island breeze of Bohol.
I’m not a fan of Halo-Halo but I like Fred’s Halo-Halo because the shaved ice are not just “ice”. It’s more of shaved iced candy. They also have rice toppings. I like the place before when it still has that book shelves. They need to...put that back to justify their name.
My friends and I have always had a great time at Fred's Book Cafe. I love their affordable food menu, their Rice Bowls, their Halo-halo and their unlimited Brewed Coffee. But, I do miss their books as it was uniquely Fred's. I hope they can...have more chairs and bigger tables thou. Their service is also customer-friendly. Thank you to the staff! Your passion for food shows on how each food and drink is prepared. Continue to smile and spread good vibes in the cafe. God bless!
