I knew it wasn’t the Matterh... read more We booked the Matterhorn Inn knowing it was directly across from the train station to Zermatt. We also booked a Mountain View room. I knew it wasn’t the Matterhorn I would see from the windows but the hotels rooms face either north or south through the valley. It’s beautiful. We received an Email the day before arrival explaining we were upgraded to Porto Cervino, a newer hotel with a better room. They called it a double upgrade. The room was a closet on top of a car wash facing the parking garage for the train station and a good distance further from the station. We were thankful the director was there when we experienced this disappointment. He was able to move us back to the Matterhorn Inn where the room was what I expected. They said it was the superior mountain view room but it was a simple basic hotel room with a small patio facing south into the valley. You could see the Alps on either side of the valley. Lovely! Included breakfast was traditional and very very nice. The director was very helpful. When the train to Zermatt derailed he was able to help us hire a taxi so we could make our paragliding reservation. We say him greeting guests in the restaurant at night. And we say him blowing snow during a heavy snowfall. The director is a hardworking man. What could have been a disappointment turned out great. If you get “upgraded” make sure you let them know your concerns. They were able to help us have a wonderful time visiting the Matterhorn. We chose this hotel over staying in Zermatt as at the time we had to re book the prices in Zermatt were more than we wanted to pay. Well arnt we glad that air bnb got cancelled. What a lovely little hotel. The location is fantastic. Even though it is the village just before Zermatt the hotel is opposite the train station so really convenient. And the train to zermatt come every 20mins. Only takes 10 mins and the scenery on the way is beautiful. We actually agreed we wouldn't have wanted to stay in Zermatt in the end. Tasch was the smaller calmer quite option. The cost of the train from Tasch to Zermatt is 10 CHF each way but we had it included in the specific travel pass we had paid for which I assume most people would also have. Hotel was lovely and cosy inside. We had a beautiful view from our balcony. Had everything we needed in the rooms. I would reccomend if your a light sleeper maybe bringing some earplugs. I think it was the type of building it is (which you will find 90% of building in Zermatt are the same) but we could here alot of noise from the other rooms. Not a massive issue but did make sleeping more difficult. Breakfast was great. The young girl who was there every morning was lovely. The selection of food was great. And everything was fresh and tasty. The best thing about breakfast was how quiet and peaceful it was. One afternoon we enjoyed a walk around Tasch itself. Definitely recommend as a lovely village. Handy co-op next door. We were genuinely very sad to leave this hotel. We had a really lovely stay and can 100% recommend.

Frequent train to Zermatt, enven at night. Room is very clean, there is soap, shampoo, towel, cups, electric kettle for tea and coffee, autocheck out. There is good wifi, lift/ elevator.There is sauna in the basement, but I did not visit it. I wish to visit there again!

The staff went above and beyond to help organize a birthday surprise for my wife. They beautifully decorated the room with flowers and balloons and made it very special for her. We are extremely grateful to the entire team for their kindness and effort. The breakfast was delicious and fresh every morning — a perfect start to the day. The atmosphere in the hotel is warm and welcoming, and the staff are down-to-earth, friendly, and genuinely caring. Thank you to everyone for making our stay and this special occasion so memorable. We truly appreciate it and would happily return.
