Recess Coffee - Syracuse
Recess Coffee
Description
Tucked into a narrow downtown building near I‑81, this small coffee shop serves house‑roasted beans, well-crafted espresso and inventive drinks (turmeric honey latte, peanut-butter and oat slushies). Fresh breakfast sandwiches, vegan/gluten-free options, outdoor seating, artsy decor and smooth online ordering make it a local favorite and convenient traveler stop. Guests love the roast and creative menu but note inconsistent service, occasional order errors and disappointing muffins; it also closes early on weekends.

The cortado is wonderfully rich and intense. It's a lovely street to unwind and watch people go by.
The coffee was masterfully prepared and simply outstanding. I will certainly come back for another cup whenever I'm around.
What can I say? A Syracuse staple was my previous 5 star review. Great coffee, but they banned me
I went in to order a coffee and a tea for the morning. My husband's coffee turned out to be black instead of the cappuccino with oat milk that I requested, and I’m sure they charged me extra for that. Additionally, I asked for vanilla cold foam on my tea, but that wasn't added either. I was so frustrated that I just walked out. How can your baristas not know how to make basic drinks, especially when there was no line? Nobody else's coffee was being made either.
