not bad! I ordered some empanadas and they were quite delicious. the bark meat and the huhn empanada tasted similar to Taco season. I think it could be more deep to them than just taco taste. some really good beef-emanadas, which I had tasted like juicy beef-fat, tasted almost as sloppy. I think the chicken was on the dry side, I would like to have more in it. on the bright side there was a tonnn and bark in the empa... View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Mi Casa Grande:
overpriced for the quality they get. I have their “big” plate that seems like a fairly standard size. the rice and the beans were both quite basic and bland, so the bark meat stew was the only thing that gave the meal taste. with a groundwater, my sum came to $16.20 I was at other Mexican places where they get much better. After reading some negative reviews, I decided to give this restaurant a try since it was conveniently located nearby. I ordered a steak burrito, chicken quesadilla, and cheese quesadilla. All three dishes were hot, fresh, and a good portion size for the price. I was pleasantly surprised and will definitely be returning next week to try something else on the menu. From ordering to picking up my food, it only took 35 minutes. I would recommend giving them a bit more time if ordering online or calling in during busy lunch hours, but overall, I had a positive experience.
The restaurant was quite pricey and all the food was incredibly dry and bland. There was no authenticity or effort put into any of the dishes. It seemed like everything came straight from the frozen section. Very disappointing.
The Latin food at this restaurant is tasty and authentic, without any pretentiousness. The interior has a casual cafeteria vibe.
I was excited to hear that there is a place in upstate NY that serves pupusas, as I have been missing them since moving from Westchester County where there are many Salvadorian restaurants. I have tried pupusas from various places in the surrounding area, each with its own unique style, and all have been delicious. Unfortunately, I was disappointed by the pupusas at this particular restaurant. They were bland and lacked flavor, and the curtido was also disappointing with very little taste. Additionally, they did not serve it with the traditional Salsa Roja that typically complements the dish. I found the salsa they did provide to be different and not the same as what I was accustomed to. I cannot recommend trying the pupusas at this restaurant, as they are not up to par with what I have had in the past. Despite this, the staff was friendly and the restaurant was clean. I will stick to enjoying pupusas downstate.
The empanadas I ordered were pretty tasty. The beef and chicken empanadas were seasoned similarly with taco seasoning, but I wished there was more depth of flavor. The beef empanadas I've had in the past were juicier, while these tasted more like sloppy joe. The chicken empanada was a bit dry and could have used more cheese. However, there was a generous amount of chicken and beef in each empanada. The breading was crispy and soft. They were priced around $2-3 each, so you get what you pay for. I would be willing to pay a bit more for higher quality. I plan on coming back to try more items from their food line system, where you can choose meats, rice, and sides for around $10-13.
