Great food, solid service service in a very dated decor. 1990s want their interior decorations back. I will definitely be back to try more off the menu. Wong's Restaurant in Swift Current offers a dining experience that has divided opinions. Known for its expensive prices, especially for families, Wong's buffet lunch surprises some with its variety and quality of food. The decor is outdated, but the service is pleasant. While some find the food bland and reminiscent of fast food, others praise dishes like the ginger beef and chicken fried rice. Wong's is commended for its Hot and Sour soup and steak options, with some diners declaring it their top choice. The restaurant's history, with its unique Chinese-style building, adds to its appeal as a Saskatchewan landmark. Overall, Wong's Restaurant offers a mix of traditional Chinese cuisine and Western dishes at reasonable prices, making it a spot worth visiting.

It is a Canadian-Chinese restaurant._We ordered the following:_Yang Chow Fried Rice,_Fried chicken wings,_Cantonese chow mien,_Beef
We enjoyed the atmosphere and ordered off the menu. The fried ginger chicken was really good and so was the chicken chow mein. We were expecting thin noodles in the chow mein but it seemed more like a chop suey with a handful of crunchy noodles resting on top. The server quickly fixed our misunderstanding with a side bowl of noodles tossed in sauce so we could add it to our other dish (no charge). We also learned what to order next time to get the correct noodle dish our picky 2 year old loves. Great service and decor and nice washrooms. We'll definitely come again and have recommended it to friends already.
Decent selection of food at the buffet but very bland, everything tasted similar. Best part was the wonton soup. We were told it was the best chinese buffet in town. I don't expect too much from any buffet but more flavor would have been welcome. not horrible by any means just not great.
We didn't have a reservation but elected to wait a while to see if a table because available. We only had to wait about 10 minutes. The food was really tasty and served quickly. The staff were friendly and courteous and the prices were really good value.
We stopped for an early supper here as we'd been on the road for a few hours and knew we needed something more than just snacking food.Last Fall we ate here with friends and enjoyed their buffet.To-day, our friendly and helpful server suggested a couple of dishes. Both sounded good, so we tried them-one with wontons serving as a bed under shrimp, vegetables, etc. The other was a ginger chicken dish. We ordered 2 egg rolls and could not possibly begin to finish all this food! Excellent flavour and value for your money. I know we'll enjoy our leftovers once we have finished this 6 day trek.

Stopped there at 11:00 am, when passing through the town, not realizing they weren't open yet, and asked about takeout. The hostess was friendly and polite and asked the cook if he would prepare an order for me, and he agreed, even though they were busy cooking and prepping for the 11:30 buffet. I ordered the Wong's Chop Suey. It was a big portion, very hot and filling, vegetables looked fresh, and it tasted good. I found the broth was a bit on the salty side for my liking, but the rice toned it down. The restaurant appears to have a nice ambiance with the dim lighting, and it is nicely decorated as well. The prices are very reasonable. I will definitely stop here again for dining in, when not in such a rush in our travels.
Had dinner here on the weekend, food was excellent, price was very affordable and service was great. Will be back
Huge portions, great tasting Chinese Food. Cold Beer Chardonnay and the service was top notch. Thankfully the sturdy to go boxes.
It was a pretty good dining experience at this restaurant with only a few issues to degrade the rating. One of the dishes I ordered turned out very salty, but the staff were very quick to get it remade and it tasted very good after, however if that dish was ordered for take out it would have been a hassle to get the issue corrected. The second issue i have with the food is another dish the meat used was quite dry and overcooked, luckily it didn't affect the taste and only the texture. Those two issues is why i must rate the food 4 out of 5 stars. The service however is very good 5 out of 5 with being kind and friendly while focusing on your needs. The atmosphere is quite nice and comfortable, however it is also quite dimly lit making it somewhat troublesome to read the menu at some of the tables, and that is why i must give a 4 out of 5.Overall this is a very good restaurant and i hope the rumors about their potential closure in the future are false, because i look forward to dining here again.
Had the Buffett. We came at the tail end of lunch so it was slim pickings but that's really on us. The food was tasty and the service was really good. She was very attentive to our needs. They topped up a few things in the buffett for us, so that was good. We really were just stopping for soup... But we saw something desirable to the eyes and so we ate of it... So much for dieting lol. What can I say... There were cream pies to eat.

Thank you, Wongs, for the excellent food and service you provided to us and all our wedding guests. We had an amazing time!
I've been dining at this restaurant whenever I get the chance for over 20 years. It's the best Chinese food in all of Canada!
Absolutely the best Chinese food I've ever had! I've never tasted chicken balls like the ones they make here; you can tell they're breaded in-house, and the portions are generous! Keep up the great work, Wong's!

A History of Forward Thinking. This restaurant should be a Saskatchewan history must see. The original owners (who have since sold the restaurant and moved out of province) were tremendously forward thinking. I am not sure when exactly the place was built but I would guess that it was built in the early 70s or late 60s. The building is very interesting both inside and out (I uploaded a picture of the outside). It is a Chinese style building and I do not know of any other Chinese restaurant in the province that was built in such a traditional Chinese way. To do this, in the middle of rural Saskatchewan in the 60s or 70s was tremendously innovative and shows forward thinking. The place is worth a visit for this reason. At its peak, the restaurant was quite an institution in Swift Current with a late night bar and an entertainment stage. The stage is no longer there and I understand that it now closes much earlier than it used to. The food is ok. It is not great but it is ok.. Intermixed with Chinese items there are steaks (and lobster) on the menu. I suspect that the lobster is frozen but I am not sure about that. The buffet is pretty average for an all-you-can eat Chinese in Saskatchewan and the place was reasonably busy when we visited. The prices are great. I have taken some photos of the buffet.
