Those who know me know that Im a big fan of the cured and aged food arts. Especially if they have to do with meet. Lou's has bacon, hams, sausage, deli meats, salami's...the list goes on. recently tried their no nitrate/nitrite turkey salami. Fairly lean, not too spicy but still flavorful. I need to score some of their Genoa and Sporessata products for good measure... View all feedback.
What M W doesn't like about Lou's Naturals:
Purchased package of fully cooked , gluten free turkey Italian style meatballs, and they were the worst I 've ever had! They were too salty, did not taste Italian (I am Italian! . and tasted as though the meat was not fresh when prepared. Have been very disappointed in frozen meatballs, so will just have to make my own batch and freeze them. So much for saving time and energy at 91 years old. View all feedback.
Those who know me are aware of my deep appreciation for cured and aged foods, especially meats. Lou's features an impressive selection, including bacon, ham, sausage, deli meats, and salami, among others. I recently tried their turkey salami, which is made without nitrates or nitrites. It was quite lean and not overly spicy, yet still bursting with flavor. I definitely need to sample their Genoa and Soppressata next!
I purchased a package of fully cooked, gluten-free turkey Italian-style meatballs, and they were the worst I've ever tasted! They were way too salty, lacked an authentic Italian flavor (and being Italian, I should know!), and the meat had a stale texture when cooked. I've had my share of disappointing frozen meatballs before, so I suppose I’ll just have to make my own and freeze them instead. It's quite disheartening, especially at my age of 91, when I was hoping to save some time and effort.
