We ate here with family on a recent visit to the area. The pub is in 3 areas, bar, and two eating areas one smarter than the other. We ate in the more basic area which was fine although it was quite busy with dogs not a problem if controlled by there owners. The Sunday roast was good food and good value. They had 3 local ales on tap and a nice selection of non alcoholic drinks. We were served by 3 girls during the vi... View all feedback.
What Helen Q doesn't like about The Freewheel:
A group of a dozen of us were here for the Sunday lunch carvery. The food was plentiful but not very tasty. The roast potatoes were poor and the service was sporadic. Each desert came out individually at intervals. View all feedback.
Great pub food, freshly cooked. Family run and a welcoming atmosphere. Friendly owners who make you feel at home. Definitely worth a visit.
Fantastic pub with delightful and welcoming staff. We have had numerous fantastic nights there, especially during karaoke nights. Highly recommend stopping by for a fun singing session and a delicious meal.
We had a great experience at this restaurant. The food and service were excellent and the prices were very reasonable. We highly recommend it. We especially enjoyed the lasagne and chicken kebab. The owners were very welcoming.
Today's roast was excellent! The staff was friendly and provided great service. The food was delicious, with a wide variety of vegetables to choose from. We are looking forward to returning.
I’ve thought long and hard about writing a review but the experience has niggled me so here goes .. We visited on Father’s Day for the first time and were very much looking forward to our meal as we’d heard such good things but we came away rather annoyed. Due to the roadworks we were running about 20mins late, I called the establishment to advise we were on our way as a courtesy and apologised for our delay to which we were advised was ok. We arrived and were seated to our table but waited 15/20mins after being seated for our drinks order to be taken then waiter another 15mins for them to arrive and even then my elderly grandad had to wait s further 10mins for his hot drink to arrive. The young girl that served us was very polite but completely inexperienced and couldn’t answer any of our questions (we later found out she is usually in the kitchen . I ordered a set menu meal for my grandparents to share as they don’t eat much and we hate wastage. After ordering our food, we were then approached by an older lady (the owners partner? who told us that due to it being Father’s Day they don’t offer any alternatives to this even though we’d explained this and asked about kids meals/smaller portions at the ordering stage. Now what got my back up was not what this woman was saying, it was how she said it. Patronising and derogatory is an understatement, it was also insinuated that we were ordering a shared meal because we were trying to save money which I was angered and embarrassed by as I was treating my elderly grandparents. In the end she came back and said they could do 2 senior meals like she was doing us a favour (had this been explained at the ordering it would have saved a lot of confusion and annoyance . The food was lovely and the lady on the bar was amazing but until the older lady learns how to treat customers we won’t be back! Such a shame! Ps I am in the industry as is my husband and I’ve never witnessed such unprofessionalism from ‘management’.
