The cafe has a lovely ambiance, with friendly and attentive staff who take your order at the table. The scones are fresh and tasty, served with ample jam and cream. I also enjoyed the herby cheese and mushroom toast. I have only been here three times since moving to the area, but I highly recommend it.
I was drawn in by the menu displayed on a music stand at this charmingly decorated cafe/restaurant. The chairs were painted in pastel colors and the tables were covered in floral PVC tablecloths. The lack of music made conversation easy, as several couples and friends had gathered for lunch. The menu offered a wide variety of food and drinks at reasonable prices. I decided to order a jacket potato with egg mayonnaise, which was served with a side salad containing grated carrot and homemade coleslaw. The food was delicious, especially the egg mayonnaise which was not overly salty. I also indulged in a slice of homemade coffee and walnut cake, which was rich in flavor and not too sweet. While dining, I overheard another customer giving specific feedback to the staff about undercooked vegetables and inconsistent portion sizes. The only downside to my visit was the unpleasant smell of stale cooking oil coming from the kitchen after someone else's chips were cooked. Perhaps better ventilation would improve the dining experience.
My wife and I were in search of a jacket potato lunch and decided to try a cafe on High Street. Unfortunately, we left quickly as their food looked burnt and unappetizing. Luckily, we stumbled upon The Purple Peach in the Forum and were pleasantly surprised. The menu was diverse and the prices were reasonable. When we placed our order, we were pleasantly surprised by the low cost, as they offer a 20% discount on cooked food on Mondays. The portions were generous, the food was delicious, and the staff were friendly and welcoming. We highly recommend checking out this restaurant, even if it's not a Monday.
