What Drew C doesn't like about The Mansion House:
I do not recommend this restaurant. We waited for 40 minutes, even went to the bar and were ignored. We were there at the band's request, but left after their set, as almost an hour had passed and nobody had come to speak to us. This happened on opening night, with only about 75% capacity at 10:30pm. View all feedback.
The restaurant has recently changed ownership and has already lost its regular customers. The new owners are now planning extensive renovations for the front restaurant, which has never been profitable. In order to fund these renovations, they have increased their prices, which may not be a wise business decision. This location is historic, but it relies heavily on summer tourism for revenue. As a result, business tends to slow down after October. While I prefer supporting local businesses over chain restaurants, the high prices at this restaurant are not justified, especially when I can get the same drink for a cheaper price at a different establishment. Overall, I was disappointed with the changes at this restaurant.
I tried the Prime Rib Dinner at this restaurant for the first time this evening, as it had been well advertised. I ordered the chilled Shrimp cocktail, but it was served hot. The prime rib dinner was not very good, especially considering the $38 price tag. The carrots served with the meal were not tasty, and I couldn't figure out how they were prepared. The gravy was slimy and oily, and the Yorkshire pudding had pools of oil in them for some reason, and they were flat. We also ordered a bottle of wine, but unfortunately, our server had never opened a bottle of wine before (although this was not her fault for lack of training). We ended up helping her open the wine. It seems like the local restaurants in the area need better direction.

You need to upgrade quite a bit before you call yourself and steak and seafood restaurant. Every steak house I have been to in the past has always served complimentary bread before our meal. You need a Cook that is cooking quality food, not cooking wings, fries and onion rings, then a $46 dollar steak? My Husband didn 't order the sirloin special because it came with shrimp, which he does not like, or could have been allergic to, his plate came with all this shrimp on it, when he told our waitress he did not want it, she said oh don 't worry about it, we won 't charge you, we threw it in. Thanks for that favour! I know the potato said garlic mashed potatoes, but that 's the only thing you offer, but even my Husband couldn 't eat them there was so much garlic in it, I 'm pretty sure they were cooked in the morning and thrown in the microwave for our dinner, could be used as glue. The gravy, from a package, no thank you. The vegetables, did they come from the local Chinese restaurant? Now let 's talk about my filet mignon it wasn 't, it was a torpedo sirloin steak, pink in the middle, very dry and chewy. The shrimp were tasteless and rubbery. I could have bounced them off the floor. Everything was cold! It was a very disappointing experience, we were going to go to the Keg but wanted to support local, thanks for your support in return, a $50 certificate hoping I come back and spend another $150.00? Even comping our drinks would have gone a long way. As your manager stated to us, the Keg has bad nights too, which I know they do, but as a friend of mine quoted to me at least the keg stands up when things go wrong. They once gave me an entire new lobster when the one I received was overcooked. I was shocked. They went above and beyond to make it an enjoyable experience. All and all, we were very disappointed, and hope you work on improving.
