An absolutely first class fish and chip shop. Des, who does the frying, has perfected his craft; the fish is always flaky, never greasy, and the chips are as good as you’ll ever find. Mary, who is front of house, is always smiling and ready to have a chat. Service is quick and prices are very reasonable given the quality of the product. The best fish and chips shop in Carshalton and quite possibly for a bigger area than that (I come up from Mitcham Junction just to get food from them). The owners (Mary and Des) are wonderful and Mary often does charity runs, marathons and other events for the community. Vegetarian options: The veggie burger is fantastic btw! I have no doubt the fish and chip shop is good but for me they could not provide gluten free chips as they cooked everything in same fryer. I understood that but sad i could not have chips.
I went to Chipsmiths this evening and bought haddock and chips for one. It was the very best F C I have had in years. The service was excellent, with a smile, and my dinner was really great. Thanks to the owners I really needed that today!
